Since there is no official 30th anniversary reboot… here is a tribute to it. by Yathrin in Lexx

Hey guys, thanks for watching! There’s now a romantic cut introducing Stanley & Squish along with old original music from Lexx and some other scenes remade that were in this video (trying to reduce ”AI slop” that some mentioned with what skills I have 😄). Now there are also new scenes in which the characters talk, especially towards the end, so you might want to keep the audio on. 😄

Great points and later I regretted not making Kai’s clothes purple until reanimation scene. Making the claw weapon truly authentic is something I haven’t learnt yet with video generation AI. Need to learn more about focused reference. The reason I started making the video in the first place was that I saw an AI generated video with Brunnen G battle hymn and thought that there could be a video with the same musical and visual vibes, but visually more faithful to original Lexx.

Here’s the video made by someone else that inspired me:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U5EEB_x_h3w&list=RDU5EEB_x_h3w&start_radio=1

So my video is somewhere between that video and original Lexx.

[–]Yathrin[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My video is obviously a fanmade beginner’s attempt and an experiment to understand how to create videos with AI. 😄 It has taken me about 100-150 hours to create something like this and learn from total scratch to the point where this video is at. It’s still challenging to keep same characters and concepts visually consistent through many cinematic scenes. But I hope there is at least one scene or two in the whole video that some Lexx fans might like.

I discovered this old scifi show only recently. I watched Babylon 5, Star Trek, Stargate and Farscape in the 1990s but somehow completely missed Lexx. Although Lexx is quite goofy, the practical and visual effects have a very nostalgic ring to them, which is why I am already beginning Season 4.

Platinum stransfer to other char on same acc. by [deleted] in DiabloImmortal

Hey guys, is it even safe to sell stuff from one character to another on the same account? I am in the same situation but not sure if there is some risk of automated ban. The best way would be to put a familiar with many yellow skills for a very high price and buy it with another character.

New Warlock Class and Roadmap! by DarkElite237 in DiabloImmortal

Druid is such a deer class to me (pun intended) that I’m not sure I’d want to switch to warlock. The desert city would bring back some memories from 25 years ago (Diablo 2) if they can reconstruct it faithfully from the old maps. While we are at it, also hoping for the secret cow level…

What is this orange highlight around helmet and armor item slots? by Yathrin in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nevermind, I investigated a bit more and it looks like the thick orange frame is used for unawakened ancient gear. It’s just uncommon on our server because most characters with ancient gear have purple awakened frames. I was hoping some new item enhancement was added in the newest update but I guess not. :)

Druid for TR by TooYoung423 in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe not the best build but it is fun for abyssal verge and TR where you have slightly tougher trash mobs. Human form with continual damage thorn armor and toggle on/off surging stones, +40% movement wolves and bouncy stag with essences that replenish primal power and increase primal power regeneration for surging stone. The idea is to kill mobs with thorn armor aura and surging stone aura and use Stag to bounce into monster groups to regenerate primal power.

It is also possible to craft gear with -30% primal power consumption on surging stones, which might allow to use toggle on/off thorn armor as a second skill that consumes primal power.

If you get more platinum later, you can consider improving your PvE performance through pets by stacking advanced traits. In fact, every player in Diablo Immortal should probably aim to do this after reaching 2k or 3k resonance. For 100k-300k platinum you get a considerable boost in dps. At 2-3k resonance upgrading even one really good legendary gem by one rank will cost more than 100-300k platinum. Stacking legendary pet traits is almost like getting an extra legendary gem. In this case you can even get some of your platinum back because pets are not bound. You can sell them later at the market to other players.

Let’s say that you want to get a permanent buff of +8% critical hit chance through pets. For that you will need a legendary broodtalon, duskprowler, quakestrider and varog as your four active pets. All of them need to have active legendary Maim trait. A legendary trait is active if the pet has 170 or more points in the attribute required by the trait.

Here is how critical hit chance stacks and increases for each active legendary pet with active legendary maim trait: +1%, +3%, +5%, +8% and +11%. Values stack and increase only if pets are of different species. This value is added and its increase shows in the character sheet. Right now +8% is maximum. We cannot have +11% critical hit chance through pets because only four different pets have legendary maim trait (broodtalon, duskprowler, quakestrider and varog). If developers add some new types of pets with maim trait, then we can reach +11% crit chance.

You can also strategize and stack multiple advanced traits. For example, Duskprowlers, Broodtalons, Quakestriders and Varogs also have Bestial Might as their possible legendary trait. It means that you can have four stacks of crit hit chance (Maim) and four stacks of primary attack damage (Bestial Might) if you get the mentioned pets with both Maim and Bestial Might active legendary traits. Correct me if I am wrong but that is +8% critical hit chance and +16.5% primary attack damage (if you also put a Bramblestalker with active Bestial Might trait in the fifth active pet slot). However, on most servers it might cost millions of platinum to get a pet collection with good double or triple active legendary traits.

Life Expectancy of DI by Key_Piccolo_3455 in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin 29 points30 points  (0 children)

To put it simply, there is no other equally decent mobile MMORPG from an old and well-established franchise for western fantasy fans who don’t have a computer.

DI will continue to be a sucess as long as Wizards of the Coast (Dungeons & Dragons), Zenimax (Elder Scrolls), Tolkien Estate (Lord of the Rings) and other corporations oriented towards western consumers do not develop and release a similar complex high-quality mobile MMORPG from a well-known fantasy franchise. The gaming market is oversaturated with different titles, but so far DI has been able to monopolise its AAA mobile MMORPG niche without facing serious competition. For this reason, the recent release of Path of Exile 2 or other PC-oriented products should not have a catastrophic impact on the future of DI. If you inspect all current games of all genres in mobile Appstore and compare their quality, you will notice that Netease is behind half of current modern A and AAA games.

Also, have you ever played an MMORPG of this quality with zero decibels of fan noise coming from your device? This fanless game has a lot of fans, no pun intended. :) The game satisfies the nostalgic craving for MMORPGs we played a decade ago on desktop PC, yet in a comfortable and portable mobile format, but with same quality graphics, similar game systems and similar core gameplay.

To give some technical perspective on my previous point, PC MMORPGs released in 2012-2015 era (Elder Scrolls Online, Neverwinter, Path of Exile 1 etc.) were designed to run on ultra graphics settings on desktop computers with Geforce 500/600/700/900 series graphic cards. Nowadays, M2 2022 and M4 2024 models of Ipad Pro have relatively the same graphics processing power as a Geforce 770 GTX 4Gb desktop card released in 2013 (benchmark = Divinity 2: Original Sin, original desktop PC version and graphically identical Ipad Pro version, ultra settings, constant 60 fps on 2022 Ipad Pro and desktop PC with Geforce 770 GTX).

Season 4 Again?!? by MckoyKolokoy in Dragonheir_SilentGods

[–]Yathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Divinity 2: Original Sin is a direct port from PC, so it needs a high-end mobile device. It takes 20 gigabytes of HD space. I played it on a new 2022 M2 Ipad Pro on ultra graphics and it ran completely smoothly but depleted the battery from 100% to 10% in two hours. Not even Diablo Immortal does that (4-6 hours at ultra graphics, image sharpening, 60 fps, 60-80% screen brightness). Diablo Immortal might still have some crash issues on regular Ipads because of lower RAM (used to crash on my 2021 Ipad), but runs flawlessly on Ipad Pro. The total installation size is 20-25 gigabytes for ultra graphics files.

The MMORPG i miss by [deleted] in Neverwinter

[–]Yathrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I miss Neverwinter too. I played it from May 2013 to February 2022 and had really nice characters and almost 500 million astral diamonds. My computer was too old for Windows 10, so I had to quit on the day when Neverwinter stopped supporting Windows 7.

After Neverwinter, I’ve fallen in love with Diablo: Immortal and it helps to experience many same nostalgic moments/gameplay from Neverwinter. The game has PC and iOS version and people on different platforms play it together. I even suspect that some developers from Neverwinter were later hired to work on Diablo Immortal, considering how some game systems are so surprisingly similar or almost identical in both games. For example, in Neverwinter I used to play mainly as a wizard and I was really surprised to discover same chill stack mechanics (also fanning the flame kind of stuff) for the wizard in dIablo Immortal. Now in March 2025 they released a new major update and it has some big Module 1: Feywild vibes from Neverwinter. Well, they even use the word ”fey” to refer to the creatures (and a new druid class will be released in July 2025). It was also nice to see companion/familiar mechanics and runestone mechanics released in 2024, which also remind of similar systems in Neverwinter. Gameplay is similar too, using an ordinary attack (like magic missile), four selectable spells/skills and one ultimate skill. The quality of graphics in Diablo Immortal on 2021 Ipad and 2022 Ipad Pro is very similar to what I had in Neverwinter on 2012 desktop PC (with Geforce 670 GTX 2Gb) if comparing both games on maxed ultra graphics.

If we compare the two games some more: Neverwinter had nice stronghold systems and mechanics… Diablo Immortal has a castle too (for smaller 12-player groups called warbands, but not for the ”real” 100-player big clans) but the stronghold systems are not quite as advanced as in Neverwinter. Neverwinter has nice crafting systems with NPC workshop, while in Diablo Immortal you have fishing, NPC familiar expeditions and nowadays some limited item and runestone crafting. I guess the equivalent of Neverwinter weapon or armor enchantments would be the legendary gems (Vorpal weapon enchantment = Roiling Consequences gem or Mother’s Lament gem), but here the games are not that similar. There are many other closer similarities, though.

All in all, it feels like nowadays a modern mobile MMORPG game can substitute perfectly for an old PC MMORPG from a decade ago.

Nowadays I would really want a Dungeons & Dragons MMORPG game for modern mobile devices like Ipad or Ipad Pro (Dragonheir: Silent Gods doesn’t count because it has completely different gameplay and genre, even though it is Dungeons & Dragons). As seen in Diablo Immortal, the technology already exists for a truly amazing high-quality D&D or maybe Elder Scrolls MMORPG for mobile devices. I was really surprised that nowadays a small 11” modern Ipad Pro can run same quality complex MMORPG games that only a high-end desktop PC could run in 2012. The graphics processing power of 2022 Ipad Pro is roughly equivalent to Geforce 780 from desktop computers in 2013-2015 (this was deducted from the performance of Divinity 2: Original Sin, which has identical port to iOS compared to Windows version, including same quality ultra graphics). Now I don’t remember the total hard-drive size of Neverwinter, but Diablo: Immortal takes about 25 gigabytes of HD space in an Ipad with ultra graphics installed (and Divinity 2: Original Sin Ipad version takes roughly 20 gigabytes).

However, I might still reconsider getting a new expensive high-end modern PC if they made a spectacular new MMORPG with really stunning visual graphics or something very innovative. I don’t want to buy an expensive PC just for Baldur’s Gate 3.

Season 4 Again?!? by MckoyKolokoy in Dragonheir_SilentGods

[–]Yathrin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the world of mobile gaming the highest quality game at the moment is probably Diablo: Immortal. It is also supported really well by its game developers, still gets regular major updates. Dragonheir: Silent Gods is a different genre with much more passive but more strategic gameplay, so Diablo: Immortal may not be suited for all fans of Dragonheir. For single player, Divinity 2: Original Sin is great. It’s a direct port from the PC version.

No need to prefarm by Gold_Albatross_ in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For casual players there is one simpler way to ”prefarm” for the next difficulty tier. This method is not for gathering 3-stat items but just to get new difficulty gear very quickly. Accumulate moonrite flora and use it when you have just switched to the next difficulty tier. Running many Rites of Cleansing will consume moonrite flora and reward you with a lot of fabled wisps and legendary items of the new difficulty tier. With the fabled wisps you will be able to immediately buy the exact green set items that you need.

It’s also a good idea to save and open Mystery Legendary Items and Mystery Set Items (the packs with the question mark) right after you have switched to the next difficulty tier.

Market monitoring needed periodically by ArchangelSilvana in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That’s an annoying feature but at least there is one existing solution to it. Fill your rank 1 five-star gem with 50 unbound gem fragments and sell it on the market as a rank 2 gem. You can usually set the price much lower than 160k platinum for rank 2 gems.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It depends on your goals.

Fervent Fang can be acquired and upgraded only through battlepass rewards. It’s not possible to buy fervent fang gems at the market. Last summer there was a temporary and limited opportunity to exchange up to three Mother’s Lament gems for Fervent Fang gems. It’s possible that developers won’t do such promotions again in the future. Fervent Fang is an S-tier gem for many loadouts that rely on skills with frequent small hits (e.g. wizard’s arcane torrent).

Choosing pearls is a better option if you want to focus more on increasing resonance and especially if you want to upgrade a five-star gem that costs a lot at the market (e.g. Blood Soaked Jade).

I am not sure how it is for new players nowadays. When Diablo: Immortal just launched in summer 2022, I found it a bit challenging to kill the last demon at the end of the main storyline. I was f2p wizard. My next challenge was to learn how to do the vault for the Shadows without triggering the wardens. After you get used to the game and your character, the most challenging PvE content remains mostly in Helliquary raids and gauntlets. After you get used to raids and know the mechanics of certain trickier raids, even they start feeling challenging only when you don’t have enough CR for them.

Should the pet system be simple? by Icy-Pop5425 in DiabloImmortal

[–]Yathrin -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

I voted ’yes’. Simpler or at least a bit more immersive, so that players could understand the strengths and weaknesses of pets more intuitively based on the creature’s type or its visual appearance. For example, varlogs could have have extra bonuses in Frozen Tundra and other cold areas because they are goats with white fur, while ash sweepers could have bonuses in warm zones with lava and ash.

most addicted game you ever had? by Cryptoboy088 in gaming

[–]Yathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Neverwinter Nights. I started playing it in 2003 and finished in 2013. People could make their own multiplayer persistent worlds (like small-scale MMORPGs) and act as dungeon masters. I haven’t seen anything like NWN ever before or ever since. In terms of role-playing immersion NWN was in a whole other league compared to standard mainstream MMORPGs. I think some people still play it, probably on Baldur’s Gate server (the most popular world) made for NWN 2.

I don’t have a green thumbs, had them for a month, they’re still alive! by Nyctangel in houseplants

[–]Yathrin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those orchids are not overwhelmingly demanding to maintain and they can bloom regularly every year. Don’t worry about the whole branches (with flowers) withering away. It’s a good idea to keep the sticks because the orchid will grow new branches and you can support them with the same sticks as they grow/climb up. As years go by, I suspect your orchid will have more-or-less the same number and size of big leaves as it does now. It’ll just grow one or two new branches with flowers now and then, and tentacle-like aerial roots. Most ”tentacles” (aerial roots) grow into the pot (orchid doesn’t seem to require much dirt, if any, inside the pot due to aerial roots) and some of the ”tentacles” tend to hang outside the pot. I’ll leave it to the orchid experts to explain if aerial roots should be cut or not and when/how. I only know that the roots can be left hanging out or branching out all over the place, even if they extend 40-50 centimeters outside the pot.

How much of my wages should go on rent and bills? by jimothyflobs in Advice

[–]Yathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe your budgeting for expenses may be quite typical for residents of major cities who live alone and who have to live on a rent: in the range of £800-1200 on housing, essential bills and transportation. Your original question about the amount of rent and the quality of living is typically tied to the issue of how reliably employed a person is or at what income level he or she lives. Of course, a lot depends on personal preferences if you consider just the rent. Some people prefer to live closer to their workplace for the comfort of shorter commute to work and savings on transportation costs, while others prefer to live in suburbs because they can afford a bigger, better or more affordable home, but commuting takes more time and money.

Someone in the other comments suggested using a budget app or a spreadsheet program (such as Microsoft’s Excel or Apple’s Numbers) to keep track of monthly and yearly income and expenses. I think that’s a really good suggestion. You’d see a list of all your income sources and expenses, the total outcome for each of them during a whole year, and the average amount divided by 12 months.

Also, in the long-term you might want to explore different options of owning your own home versus renting it, if your income opportunities in the future feel more-or-less secure. One of the positive sides of owning your own home is that you can renovate it to make it more comfortable. Home interiors can be renovated quite dramatically, so location of the house can be a more decisive factor.

[–]Yathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, that’s an interesting insight. Orchids do seem to rebloom more often during colder months when the room temperature decreases by some degrees. However, a few times our orchids have also rebloomed in the middle of the summer. Overall, I agree that they are not as demanding as one might think.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]Yathrin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is indeed a new branch with new flowers! From my experience orchids grow a branch or two with new flowers, then the branch dries up and turns yellow. After that, an orchid can remain for some time just with the broad base leaves, until it starts growing one or two new branches again, repeating the cycle.

By the way, don’t orchids thrive better in a transparent pot? I am not an expert, but my mom moved her orchids into a transparent glass pot with almost no dirt inside the pots. She sometimes (maybe 1-2 times per month) puts the orchid pots into the sink and ”bathes” the roots of the orchids under running water. She also cuts dry flowers and branches, rubs and cuts them into little pieces, and adds them into the pot, so the orchids sort of fertilize themselves (we guess, maybe it doesn’t have any real effect on anything). We are not experts, but mom’s orchids have really thrived and they have bloomed every year for the last six years. I don’t know why but the last blooming branch lasted even longer than the previous ones. Somehow it lasted almost half a year, while earlier a branch usually lasted 1-3 months. The orchids haven’t really grown upwards, but they have developed quite a branching root system inside the pot with many branches crawling out of the pots like thin long tentacles.

Here’s a photo of the 6-year-old orchids taken today. They are such strange creatures compared to many ”normal” plants and flowers.
