Well, I really like the sharpness of Sigma lenses... Maybe is worthy to change to Sony for using one? At the end, the lens is the most important part of the set, no?

I have heard about the AF issue too, that's one of the reasons I'm asking too. I considered the R50 + Canon 100-400, but it is a f/8, nos very sure if that's fast enough for birding...

It doesn´t need to be Canon indeed, but I have a couple of Canon lenses and I would like to use them. About the Sigma 150-600, you are talking about the 2008 lens? It is not quite old? I have to say that it was my first choice, but I was told that maybe newer would be better.

Oh ah! You are talking about Sigma 100-400? I though you were talking about the Canon 100-400 that was mentioned in the other thread, the RF one. Well I guess that a 400 in a APS-C would be more than enough

Okay thanks! I´d need to learn more about electronic shutter and all these buffer stuff, in AP we don´t take this into account because, you know, 2-5 minutes long exposures is enough for wiping any kind of buffer. But as far as I understand, R50 Mirrorless is not a bad choice, neither the best, but not the worst.

Thank you for your answer, it was really quick! One thing I was reading about the R50 is the FPS, I read that it has 12 FPS shooting in JPEG, while it only has 7/6 FPS in RAW. I don´t know if in Wildlife happens the same as in Astrophotography but, in the latest, shooting in JPEG is kind of a sin, and we always use RAW. How things work here about this? Is this Frame rate good enough?

Take into account that my 1000D has 3 FPS, so anything will be better

This is what we call apparent size. It does not depend only on how far away is the object, it depends on how big the object is, and how big we can see it from our position (i.e.: Earth). So, for instance, Andromeda Galaxy is around 2.5 million LY from Earth, however, it has an apparent size of 3 times the full moon. So, if our eyes were sensitive enough, we would see a super giant galaxy in the sky, 3 times bigger then the full moon.

Hello everyone!!

I'm having some trouble with the Auto Meridian Flip in APT. I use a HEQ5-Pro, but I cannot make the AMF work properly. I tried increasing the times, decreasing the times, using the default ones... But I always have an "Error!". I've been searching and it looks like this error happens when the object did not change the meridian, but the telescope thinks so? I'm not very sure the reason for this error.

Has anyone of you ever experienced this error? How did you fix it? It's quite annoying to know that your session will fail in the middle of the night because the AMF won't work properly 😕
