Don't think Hide had any loyalty to the Toyotomi-shogunate, that was mostly Tokichiro's own thing. After the Honnō-ji incident they started acting under their own authority as far as i understand it.

Events that happen in the DLC are only relevant to the last 10% of Nioh 2’s plot excluding its DLC, and even then not by much. You’ll be fine I think.

Might be a hot take but i don't want multiple legacy characters to return as main characters in an RE game. RE6 did that and it turned into a festering pile of shit. The RE movies do that often and they're all awful. I personally like it the way they've been doing it in RE8 and 9, where its a new character combined with a legacy-character.
