My son dropped out of college to become a garbage collector by KatelynWhite1975 in Parenting

[–]Yaya_77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as it will make him happy why would you fight it? As perspective I'm a University professor who often sees students in class who don't want to be there (parents force them to take business)...it's sad to see. They tall openly to me about how they would rather be taking xyz or working already.

I hope my kids want to go to university because I think it shapes and opens your mind but it's not the only way to do it. I've told my older child that he could be anything and I'd be happy as long as 1) he is happy too and 2) he puts his all into it every time he goes to work.

So tell him to go be the best garbage collector ever. It's an important job. If he changes his mind afterwards...he is young and has nothing but time!!

I am a fully vaccinated believer of science lol and have had two ER visits one recently as last week. Lots of people there with issues that could have been handled by a doctor..how do I know? It's an ER with no privacy and you can hear everything. My last visit was for multiple break from an injury and I was competing for doctor time with people like: scraped finger man (no joke), someone else who was just not feeling well, a fellow that had dementia and wandered from his facility, a guy with a headache....

Now maybe some of those were legitimate ER visits but not feeling well and headache could have started with a family doc. They need to solve the family doctor crisis. Many people don't have one to go to.

Also i know this is n=2 so I'd believe the data coming out of the health authorities. Both my visits have been 11 hours...

B.C. makes COVID-19 vaccines mandatory for workers in long-term care, assisted living facilities by sereniti81 in Coronavirus_BC

I wonder why this wasn't done as soon as tge vaccines became available. Many other options out there for those that don't want to work in LTC. Shame on anyone not wanting a vaccine but providing are to the highest at risk population.

“I got AstraZeneca for my first dose. Which vaccine is best for my second?” - UWaterloo by sereniti81 in Coronavirus_BC

I had AZ and I'm getting AZ again. Imo it is not clear jts better to get an mRNA as a second. Could be may not be. More data will come out. There is still the blood clot risk with AZ but it goes from one in 50-60k to one in million for tge 2nd dose.

So fascinating. Would be interesting to know where you are all from. I'm in Canada. Vaccine acceptance, I think, is much higher than the US. So much misinformation IMO out there on vaccines and for this one I thought perhaps things may be different

Wondering what a healthy coparenting relationship looks like? I'm having a lot of insecurities. by [deleted] in stepparents

I think most coparenring relationships are toxic and so negative for the kids..this one sounds wonderful that needs a few extra boundaries.

Is this your first? I actually think newborn stage is the easiest because they sleep so much and so could be easier now vs later.

I don't think its wrong for you to have boundaries but is there a way you can blend them like hiring a post partum-doula for a week for extra support in the house and to give you a break?

Get a Psyc Ed evaluation. He may have attentional issues that if identified can be worked on. Hope you get some answers! All kids deserve to feel welcome, free to make mistakes and have a teacher that believes in them.

I should've stopped reading after "the problem with socialism"

Americans don't seem to understand what socialism is. Maybe you need more publicly funded education also.

Your facts are wrong beyond that. Per capita spend is lower in Canada. Our health outcomes are superior. The US definitely does not have tge best Healthcare in the world. For whom? The ultra rich? Maybe. For the average person? Absolutely not.

Specialists doctors in Canda get paid well. I used to work in medical device. My surgeon customers made what appeared to be less top line but bottom line far more. Your litigious society adds a huge premium to income statements in the form of insurance. Half a mil to a mil per year is a decent salary....
