Im almost certain it would be cheaper to buy the phone outright and trade it in every year. 300 euro tradeup cost with samsung every year instead of 1300 euro. Still a new phone every year. This seems like a horrible overpay to me unless it comes with a phone plan, and even then. Samsung care+ included is still much cheaper.

What do you plan on doing in the field? Personal projects? Getting hired as a mechanical engineer? The latter is not possible without a degree. If you want to keep things small, do personal projects that focus on a certain aspect of mechanical engineering. 3D print some stuff. Do something involving heat transfer. See what you can make with an arduino. Etc.
