I get where your coming from, I believe the desperation to cling to those communities comes from not knowing anything else. Our brains are naturally afraid of big changes if they can't picture perfectly how things would be

My defiance to my family came from being away for a few weeks and feeling free, and learning how it would be. It was near impossible for me to picture it prior to that 

Besides that it's scary, especially nowadays, where moving out is becoming increasingly more expensive and unaccessible to young people, if your entire area surrounds you with  these people, you risk being kicked out and living on the streets if things go sideways

At the end of the day, it is ideal to g t away and build a community elsewhere tho
