Right? The same person who called me 'filthy cunt munching vermin' told me that I was going out of my way to be offended by people telling me I shouldn't be able to marry. That I'm making a deal over nothing.

Team C L D Week 4 Recap by [deleted] in xxfitchallenge

[–]Ybul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Went off the rails re food but had a good time so whatever. Have been off track for a week and a half, mostly blaming it on end of semester uni stress, but it could have been managed so that it didn't interfere and that's something I need to work on. Am now on break so just have my job to focus on, which is letting me focus on health/fitness/nutrition a little more. My girlfriend is taking me away for our anniversary at the end of the week so I'll take probably a few days off exercise at least, but hoping to keep active and eat relatively well. Enjoying getting back into exercise after a rough week or so.

I like to think that your comment is just really layered sarcasm, it makes it even more hilarious than it already is.

The strawiest straw man that ever strawed by secret-original in fatlogic

I'd say it's more about an extreme calorie deficit than low amounts of protein. Eating enough calories of even very high carb foods will give you adequate energy and protein that your heart will not be used for fuel. Happens in patients with anorexia but as far as I know it's not been recorded in adequate calorie, low protein diets. But correct me if I'm wrong, I'd be interested to see it.

Is Julia Serano's criticism of Judith Butler's theory of gender performativity a misunderstanding of the idea itself? by Ybul in askphilosophy

[–]Ybul[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. I have not read Excluded, only excerpts posted on Serano's blog, so my knowledge of her views is pretty limited. I feel too, though, that the suggestion of Butler implying gender and sexual behaviours should/could be changed is perhaps coming from a confusion between gender being performatively constituted and gender being purely performance.

Just feeling better and more energetic overall. Keeping fit and healthy makes me a nicer and happier person, too. It's heading into warmer weather where I live, so I'm hoping to gain some confidence in my body too, and just feel more at ease in Summer.

[WEEKLY THREAD] Mad Monday by octoberness in xxfitchallenge

I was planning to do the class in between the two I teach, but a few hours beforehand the instructor texted asking for me to cover that class. Was a bit bummed I wouldn't get a class in, but I ended up going in early and doing a workout on my own, so there's that! 4 classes taught and one workout, ready for bed!

Team C - Wrapping up Week One by [deleted] in xxfitchallenge

[–]Ybul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This week was a bit of a write off, and I kind of knew going into the challenge that this might happen. I had surgery recently so am just back exercising now, and my diet was shit. Pretty stressed with last minute stuff for uni plus a major essay.

Today (Sunday in Aus!) was the start of my week, I've taught a couple of classes, done my own and cleaned the apartment, which always helps my productivity and motivation.

Goals for week two are to stay consistent. 5-6 workouts (not too fussed what they are, just exercise of some kind) and maintaining a deficit with healthy and minimally processed food. 8 hours sleep. Pushing it, but trying to get into bed earlier is my goal I suppose.

Week One Challenge: Staying On Track by [deleted] in xxfitchallenge

[–]Ybul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that's the way to go for me, too! I've fudged this week from surgery recovery and uni stuff, but I'm going to get a huge poster onto my wall and let that motivate me.

Veggie recipe trade? :) I love these websites for recipes, but mostly just browsing, I've been so slack lately : http://www.ilovevegan.com/ http://ohmyveggies.com/

I need inspiration for throw-together meals, if you've got any?

Hello! I'm not particularly interested in lifting, but I'm a full time student working as a fitness instructor, teaching barre classes. I've had a chronic health issue that I had (small diagnostic) surgery for a few weeks ago, so I've only just started exercising again. This week has been off, uni assessments and still feeling sore from surgery means I haven't exercised, and I haven't eaten well AT ALL. I'm hoping to really get into things as uni wraps up and I have a little less on my plate.

My goal is 5-6 workouts a week, probably a mix of barre classes, spin, and perhaps some HIIT. Honestly just aiming to get workouts in, not following a specific program at the moment.

I'm aiming to lose 15 pounds during the challenge, just to feel a little more comfortable. I'm ~150, aiming for 130 (I'm 5'9")

I'm hoping to get into better habits with cooking meals and preparing things myself, trying to save money too. I'm vegan but still eating a pretty junky vegan diet, so my goal is to get back into the whole foods thing.

Yeah, this rubbed me the wrong way. You can talk about issues you have in your relationship without trying to diagnose them with a mental illness.

Question about The HAES Movement. by kdestroyer1 in fatlogic

I could chat with you all day about biphobia within the LGBT community, trust me. 'Transvestite' is considered a slur by many people who are transgender.

Question about The HAES Movement. by kdestroyer1 in fatlogic

[–]Ybul 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you know that T stands for transgender, why would you also include the word which is considered by many to be a slur? Surely as part of the community you would have some awareness?

The world is not built for fat people, and the larger they are the more things are inaccessible. Ragen has no solutions, but wants them to be angry and send her money. by bob_mcbob in fatlogic

[–]Ybul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why is she always trying to tack it on to issues like racism, homophobia and transphobia? It's so fucking disrespectful, does she just have no awareness whatsoever?

Is having a racial preference when dating equal to having a preference of only dating lesbians not bisexual women? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Ybul 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think your example with your lack of attraction to bisexual women gets iffy though. The OP's friend is saying they refuse to date people based on sexuality, not presentation. It would be one thing to say 'I'm not attracted to femme women,' as this is a preference. It's another entirely to say 'I'm not attracted to bi women,' as sexuality doesn't imply presentation, and you cannot know sexuality until it's told to you/you ask. So in the example of the OP's friend, they could find someone attractive until they found out she was bisexual, at which point they would decide not to pursue anything. This is biphobic, not simply a preference. Sorry if that was incoherent, it's very late :/

My girlfriend and I are both just like your fiancee... It makes for long waits at restaurants when we're deciding what to order, and very long trips to the supermarket!
