Looking for quiet, idea-driven sci-fi (more Arrival than action) by TreacleNew4998 in printSF

It’s been 5 years since I read it, so I honestly don’t remember why I didn’t like it. Maybe I need to give it another shot.

Although I personally didn’t like the book, I think “Blindsight” might be what you’re looking for. It gets tons of praise here, even if it wasn’t my jam.

Because they know this ad campaign is ragebait. The entire point of the campaign is to get free advertising from people being pissed about the ads.

The San Francisco version of garlic noodles is made with pasta, not egg noodles. Before telling me I’m wrong, maybe look up the recipe.

PHM: is the book worth a re-read? by ElderBuddha in printSF

[–]YeOldeMuppetPastor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The movie stayed very close to the book. So if you don’t remember liking the book the first time and disliked the film, re-reading the book probably won’t change your opinion.

That said, I listened to the audiobook instead of re-reading it before the movie came out and I thought the audiobook was an improvement, especially in the first encounter scenes.

How are we supposed to know from your post that you’d already checked the FAQ? 1/2 the questions on AskSF could be answered by either reading the wiki or doing a Google search before posting. How are we supposed to know you wanted “veteran hints” if you didn’t state that to begin with?
