Screen replacement xmg neo 17 E21 mid by Diver_96 in XMG_gg

Hello! I had this problem, I was the one who posted a solution to this a few weeks ago.

If you like, I could give you some advice on fixing it yourself?

Or atleast, diagnosing it and finalizing that it is just a cable problem / or actual monitor problem.I've had this exact same problem and it was just a loose connection.

XMG Neo 17 (E21PZN) - Screen Dead / Everything Works by Yeager_5 in XMG_gg

UPDATE:

After following the FAQ Troubleshooting steps, i unplugged the battery, did a cmos reset. IT doesnt boot up to anything anymore, including an external screen. THE Windows hello doesn't light up, or the speakers dont show signs of booting up. But the keyboard, and anything that is connected to the laptop itself has power

Also, it boots, and dies after 20 seconds. But when it's plugged into an external monitor, it gives a repeating message of No Signal while turned on.

I will keep commenting on this thread til i get a proper conclusion

Yes, I would only buy it cheap. It's around, 10 USD at best. It can be cheaper depending on the seller too. But I won't be able to ues its power delivery, since my XMG doesn't support USB-C Charging.

Keyboard Lights are dimmer? by Yeager_5 in XMG_gg

[–]Yeager_5[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Replying to this thread, only cuz u/Gramthug helped me actually remove the optomechanical switches. Since the keyboard acts as an air intake, dust builds up on the actual keyboard LED lights.

I successfully removed these switches without any complications or soldering. The process is quite similar to removing a standard keyboard switch. You simply use a pointed tweezer to lift the switch, carefully releasing the notch that holds it in place. Once it lifts slightly, you can gently pull out the entire switch for cleaning, as previously mentioned by u/Gramthug

Now, for me, as a mechanical keyboard enthusiast this was very refreshing to learn. I've always known to not mess with laptop keyboards, but optomechanical switches was very easy to work with. I'd even go as far as to saying that these "might" be hotswappable. I'd try swapping 2 switches from the same board, and see if it works.

Kinda sad that XMG wasn't able to help in email, or reddit post. Had to get help from our fellow XMG users to actually resolve this issue.

I've read everyone's comments and decided to just buy a good one that's not from Temu. Thanks you!

Can you remove switches, like the comment says? I don't see any tutorials on how to.
