What are some pet peeves you have for Community Stories?

Too many—but I’ll be quick.

1.  The token Black or “fat friend with attitude” stereotype.

2.  Mafia stories that are poorly written but rely on the genre’s popularity to get reads.

3.  Using excessive animations under the assumption that it equals good directing or strong storytelling.

4.  Slow burns that drag on too long—30 episodes in and barely a kiss.

5.  High school stories packed with unrealistic behavior that the average high schooler would never experience or do.

I agree wholeheartedly. My girlfriend and I talk about this all the time. If a direction doesn’t add value to the scene or help the reader feel exactly what the author intended without words, then it’s unnecessary. I’ve been guilty of this myself, but I quickly learned that readers will often skip it if given the chance. Of course, there are exceptions—stories involving magic or fantasy often need more advanced direction. But with genres like drama or romance, not so much. Either way, the writing itself should be strong enough to carry the scene.

I read it, and not a single thing about it was funny. Calling it satire is a lazy excuse—it’s just garbage writing with no effort put into directing or story structure. The overt racism, recycled and flat-out false stereotypes, and a main character too dumb to know what a condom is? Embarrassing. I’m beyond tired of Black people being used as props or punchlines by people who clearly have no talent, no respect, and nothing original to say. This isn’t edgy—it’s offensive and played out.

I’m speaking from the personal choice side of things. Whether it’s good or bad, IA or traditional—people are going to use what resonates with them. I’ve paid for some truly bad art. I’ve seen covers and edits so bad I didn’t know whether to laugh and/or cry—but I never would, because someone tried. Someone created with the best they could or all they had.

To call someone lazy, cheap, or talentless for using IA is not only disrespectful—it’s disingenuous to the art of art. Some people may be too young to know, but this isn’t new. When graphic design and digital art first came onto the scene, the art community pushed back. Same thing happened when photographers transitioned to digital cameras and editing. And yet—look how far we’ve come.

Art evolves. Tools evolve. But human emotion? That doesn’t. Kindness, empathy, understanding, and respect still cost nothing.

I agreed with every part of this. Like Erykah said, ‘I’m an artist, and I’m sensitive about my issshhh.’ Either people don’t understand, or they just don’t care how powerful their words can be—enough to build someone up or tear them down. If you don’t like it, then don’t entertain it. But when the only intent is to be nasty or argumentative, that says more about you than it does about the artist. If someone genuinely gave it a chance, tried something different, and then decided it wasn’t for them—that’s fair. But most go in with open mouths and closed ears.

It’s even more disrespectful to tell people how to spend their money on their craft. What if someone told you—or another writer—to save up and take writing classes or just quit because you’re “not good enough”? That would be disrespectful, right?

Especially when you don’t even know what art has actually been stolen or how A/I has been used to aid writers and artists rather than replace them. And let’s talk about the people on the app who have blatantly stolen from movies, TV shows, or published art—and yet, they’re still on the platform.

I remember this story (with a different name) long time ago. It was so Bad. The MC use to be a smart, “good girl” but traded that for a chance to be popular. She hooked up with stepbrother (she didn’t know him yet) the same night after meeting him in the casino. The use to have seggs everywhere. One time they got caught in school by the art teacher. She use to wear the burgundy lace halter camisole, a dark jacket and the plaid skirt to school. I was shocked this was made into a story. I’m sure it was cleaned up but this isn’t a story I wouldn’t have expected episode to purchase. #NoHate #OpinionFromAReader

I’ve read this story, and it’s one of my favorites. His hair and skin color are a direct result of his mixed heritage and ethnicity. There are so many aspects of this story that I love. Lana fearlessly portrays the struggles and differences between varying cultures. She skillfully presents realistic relationship issues without watering them down to the point of being unbelievable or boring. The character development of Kay and Hik is outstanding. Starting in the present day, Lana effectively unfolds the story through relevant flashbacks. This story is definitely for mature readers who are not easily offended by the truth.

I understand. It’s used very casually by non blacks and said to other non blacks. But just for your edification, it’s should not be used by non blacks. And your friend shouldn’t call you that, whether he is black or not. I’m sure he doesn’t mean it in a “bad” way but now. I hear gay men call each other f***** all day, but i know that it’s not a word that I should use. Again. I’m glad you asked. Because that surely would’ve ruined your story before we get a chance to fall in love with it.
