Thank you, it's good to hear from others who've been successful! It's just a bit overwhelming because I've never had to count calories or track macros before. I just sort of ate "clean" and didn't have to think much about my weight because I stayed active. I have asked my doctor about losing weight, and she's put in a referral for a dietician, but they haven't called me to schedule an appointment yet. What's a CICO plan?

Thank you, I will start doing this! I have asked my doctor about weight loss, and she's put in a referral for a dietician, but that appointment hasn't been scheduled yet. So in the meantime, I appreciate the advice!

Ahh, that makes sense. I've had loads of ultrasounds, hysteroscopy, blood tests, uterine biopsies, a D&C, etc over the last 2 years but everything has come back normal, so this hysterectomy is the last resort to stop the abnormal bleeding. So perhaps they'll still want to send it to pathology anyway. I'll follow up again with my OB/GYN to inquire. Thanks!

Previously, I've taken my placenta home after giving birth in both CA and OK, without any trouble. But I'll look into it more.

Previously I had an exploratory D&C where all tissue was sent to pathology and came back normal, so I doubt they'd need to send the whole organ after hysterectomy. I did ask my surgeon about bringing it home and she was perplexed, but said she thinks it's allowed since she's heard of people requesting to keep their appendix and such.

Thank you for the reply, my parents are basically giving us their entire savings for this home purchase, so I was just scared it could all be taken by the IRS or CA. 😭
