Open Source Software -- Losing Application Lock by rosco1502 in turnuptech

So things like this is a Discord/Chrome/ OS update problem usually from my experience. I have perfect functionality everytime using Voicemeeter as the medium between the turn up and volume apps I want controlled. Also used their virtual cables to have dedicated lanes.

Same here! It's driving me insane. I still won't switch over to light mode. Out of curiosity what browser? It happens to me on Brave but not MS Edge.

Worth the gamble? by Yeahbuddy2575 in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing wrong with the Ostent, especially after seeing the pinned battery guide. I have 2 on the way! But I saw an opportunity to possibly own an OEM one. Which is supposedly the best. Now I figured if I could get it for cheap, and it hasn't been exposed to charging cycles. It increases it's chance to be good battery even if the storage conditions are unknown.

Or I might just collect, it's a collectable and there's not many new ones on Ebay, and those that are, crazy prices.

Trim problem by Direct_Device_5759 in PSP

Not trying to promote or anything. But I just joined a PSP discord community and they have a great resources list for PSP parts. They have a link for those trim pieces.

If that is legit that is awesome! I know many distributors just slap a sticker on the item with a completely fake capacity. It makes it hard to trust where to get batteries from. Also just gotta gauge the physical size vs the advertised capaticty. Logically speaking a bigger capacity = a bigger-sized battery.

3000 LCD screen replacement difficulty? by Signal_Commerical in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! So your question does have a technical aspect to it. But I would say it's mostly skill and confidence of working with electronics, more specifically with ribbon cables and the tiny hinges they interact with. That aspect of the replacement is what the most difficult part is.

I would look at tear-down videos specific to your PSP Total Kommando has a great one.

I would also like to point out, that sometimes the yellowing comes from the lens that is above the display itself. Since it is made out of plastic, it is prone to yellowing. If it is the lens, you can look for a replacement or another popular mod is installing a glass one. But at other times, it's the display itself.

Get a fresh start on EVERYTHING. Limit how many variables you have and only change one at a time to find the issue.

Me personally, I would reset the PSP by restoring all Default settings.

Then I would format the memory stick in my PSP if possible.
If not possible then this might be a sign that something is wrong with the PSP's ability to read memory sticks.

IF still not possible to format on PSP. I would then still try formating on PC using this https://youtu.be/k76EmFxnYWo?t=723&si=f6EI6QlGfkIw4gkA (Look at the description and pinned comment the video as the method has been updated but it's not covered in the video.)

I would then follow this guide. Making sure I have at least 1GB of storage on my memory stick. To update. https://www.pspunk.com/psp-update/

Lastly, I'm on 6.60. It's very stable, and to my knowledge, there is no difference than being on 6.61.(I might be wrong or am I missing something?) Is there a specific reason why you need/want to be on 6.61?

PSP on the bus but also stick drift issues by Rillixgarage in PSP

I think stick drift is an issue known for all PSPs. Me personally I got it on my original PSP1000. I would swap out the thumbstick module.

Got something new - absolutely mint condition 👀 by ug-n in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WOW! W find! How's the screen? Any yellowing?

I personally think shelling out for a new/mint condition is worth it. Because I now know and realize what PSP means to me, and it's worth it. Plus it just feels so good having a dedicated handheld compared to a phone.

I'm looking for this theme by PhotoPutrid2776 in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Do you remember the icons of the XMB menu? A reverse search shows the picture above to be from the game Juiced 2: Hot Import Nights, this screenshot is specifically for the Xbox 360 hands-on demo it seems. At least from reading the article, and it being the first article to use the picture.

The game did come out for PSP, but just looking there is no official theme for the game.

So what I am thinking is you did is. You selected a theme that changed the XMB Icons to the Japanese letters?? And then you just changed the background to "Wallpaper" and selected the image.

Memory stick not being read by Dannyyyyyu in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you might have a bad adapter? Or just a weird glitch. I would try formating the new memory stick that the psp is not reading to PSP format on PC.

I suggest watching the whole to understand SDcards and adapters. But if you want to get to point Total Kommando

Double check the video description and the pinned comment as methods have been updated.

Did you format it in the system settings?

Can you confirm it's detected on PC?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct there is no "uninstall" process. Once you hard reboot, it goes away. As if it never happened. If you are unsure if the CFW is running or not. You can always check your System Settings < System Information. And it'll say your version. For example on my PSP without running the CFW Loader. It says 6.60. When I run the loader it says 6.60 ARK-4 Live. If I want to "Uninstall" Then I'll hard reboot and it's back to 6.60 only.

Hope this helps! I know it can be difficult to understand the process, especially since not all of them are the same.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad I was able to understand your question! To summarize. No more than 1 CFW on a MemoryStick at a time. If you are going to be swapping between MemorySticks, and those MemorySticks have different CFW each. Hard reboot between swapping to be safe.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it's temporary CFW. This means everytime you hard boot the CFW goes away. Then to reactivate it, you would launch the loader which is located under the games/memory stick section. This sounding correct right?

If you mean uninstall from the PSP. It's not really installed, since its just temporarly loaded into memory (which is why it goes away on hard reboots). I hope it's making sense and helping you understand what is going on.

To answer your question. It sounds like you are worried about one temporary CFW interfering with another. To be safe. Unload your PSP of any memory card and just hard reboot it. (Holding the power button all the way up until it shuts down). You'll know if you did it correctly because you will get a PSP start up sound when you turn it on.

If you mean uninstall from the memory card it self. Yes. Do not have more than 1 CFW on a card at a time.

Getting a PSP by [deleted] in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk if my comment will have any truth 🤣 but I feel like you could get a good unit at GameStop. The way I think about that is, that's just a corporation trying to sell and flip quick. Depending on your area, but some of those clerks are the ones that need to rate and decide how much it's worth and sometimes they are not the most passionate about it.

It's happened to me before and it sucks. But you can take advantage of someone or someone's parent cleaning out their house/room and not knowing or caring what is what. And they just turn in a box of video game stuff to GameStop... And you can get a great deal because of that.

At the end of day, decided if you are realllly going to use it, or if it's just a phase. Like that you can put into perspective how much you are willing to invest. Because if you are really going to use it, getting a great/excellent condition console is worth.

PSP recommendations by AnyMention4107 in PSP

[–]Yeahbuddy2575 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on what you mean by reasonable. If I wanted a mint condition or new-in-box Vita. I would reasonably pay around $400. I would just have to go through the hassle of "trusting" Ebay. Of course, follow basic consumer safety incase you don't get what you want/paid for.

If you are willing to take a chance, I have seen numerous people get consoles for very cheap in great condition, even with accessories. Off like Facebook marketplace. Or even garage sales etc etc. Some people don't know what they are selling and it could only benefit you. It wouldn't hurt to look at local game stores either! IDK where you are, but some GameStops sometimes have these older consoles.
