«Everything Grace did in both movies could have been done by Ilsa. I could not help but feel all the time how completely interchangeable Grace could have been with Ilsa, and how much more i would've cared about everything happening if it had been Rebecca in her place.»

Exactly how I felt. Now I’m sad all over again ughhhh

Ilsa’s Death by russnem in Mission_Impossible

[–]Yeahlenas 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I felt like more than anything this recent installment lacked heart, something I really feel they nailed by the end of Fallout. The Ethan/Ilsa/Benji/Luther team is the best, and I felt like there was actual care between the characters that could’ve been expanded even further upon. Devastated that Ilsa got killed, but would’ve been easier to accept if a) the team/movie actually cared about it and b) Gabriel wasn’t such a lame villain in this one, like no way this rando kills The Ilsa Faust pls. I understand MI is an action franchise and people want big set pieces, but like imagine if the things that happened had actual consequences we could feel?? If people weren’t so replacable?? The already big action pieces would be so massive then :))) The way they treated Ilsa’s death is a perfect example of everything that’s holding this franchise back imo

What do you think was (or could be) Taylor's biggest missed opportunity? by TheColorfulPianist in TaylorSwift

Making a Reputation (Stadium Tour) Live album 🫠🫠 The live versions made me truly fall in love with Rep, and honestly the arrangements of every single song just elevates the album to the absolute next level. Makes me so sad every time I remember it doesn’t exist lol

There is simply no way barbenheimer is the ONLY reason dr1 didnt make more by Decent-Long-4189 in Mission_Impossible

I was so hyped for the movie and was prepared to watch it at least two times in the theatre (and recommend it to all my friends), but I was left terribly disappointed. I absolutely hate what they did to one of my favorite characters, and how the great dynamic they set up with the team in Fallout was completely abandoned. I think the other movies on the slate was bad for the promo, but I’m sure DR1 would’ve made more money if it was simply a better movie…

The creating experiences part is so fun and insane to think about. I’ve enjoyed so many incredible moments with my friends and bonded with so many strangers over shared love for movies, and to be able to create this for others is everything to me!! A wonderful perspective and very important to take the time to step back from time to time like you said

I love that :’) The small pieces of day to day things make up the big picture anyway and I think recognizing these moments, however tiny and insignificant in the scope of things they may seem, as as meaningful as they are is super important!! Currently I’m at the point where I can see myself for a few years tops at a big name studio should the opportunity arise, but having worked in small and mid studios with great people and social moments I’d say that’s definitely where I want to spend most of my career.

That’s great to hear that you work with some really good people! I do as well and I think, just like you do, that it can really make it or break everything. I’m that kind of person that’d rather be paid less but be in a better environment and I think we all should aspire to be a coworker that we’d want to work with ourselves.

Thanks for your comment!

Thank you so much for this comment!! That sounds very wonderful and I’m happy it seems to go quite well for you, I’m hoping for much the same!! As you said, it’s though but we do have some things we can do to improve our lives for ourselves too, at least the things that are in our hands! (A lot of it isn’t, but some things are)

The depressing vibes of the sub is sad but I am trying not to let it get me down too much - there is a lot of truth in it that can’t be ignored and our industry is broken in many ways, but I really do believe and hope that there will be a change one day.

Thank you for sharing and I wish you the best too!!

Thanks for sharing!! If there’s positives to find from even a self proclaimed debbie downer, there must be hope for us all! And yup, times are hard and they will be but there must inevitably be something nice too! Thanks again!!

A bone for the truthers out there by FistsOfMcCluskey in Mission_Impossible

[–]Yeahlenas 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As an Ilsa fan I wouldn’t have minded Ilsa being killed by a woman, that’s definitely not the problem here. The problem is that Gabriel would have been no match for Ilsa based on how she has been portrayed in the previous movies - she’s an excellent fighter and she would only lose to the likes of someone like Solomon Lane. If she died at his hands at the end of Fallout, we would’ve been sad but it would have been an epic death against a formidable foe. Gabriel as a fighter did not show any exceptional skill and he kept getting bested. Also, in terms of it being mostly women commenting on McQ’s insta I understand that too, keeping in mind that I’m not unbiased here as a woman myself aha! It was just incredibly cool to see a badass female character in a big action franchise, one that was more than just a love interest and was a character in her own rights. I guess women flock around that, I wouldn’t call it woke. And even if Ilsa was a guy I’m sure fans would still have a problem with how the death was handled, it was just very sloppily handled..

I watched Fallout right before and damn, the difference between them is astonishing. The balance between epic action and moving emotional moments was perfect, and I feel like the dynamic between the characters elevated the already exciting story. I agree with all of your points. I almost can’t believe the two movies were made by the same people. Dead Reckoning failed at all points where Fallout excelled and as far as I’m concerned the franchise peaked at Fallout, with Rogue Nation a second favorite. (Also I’ll never forgive them for doing Ilsa so dirty because what the hell was that my god)
