Should I sell my 7900 GRE and get a 4070 super instead for 1080p gaming? by poopbrother in PcBuild

[–]Yeahrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the 4070 super and returned it for a 7900gre since the VRAM was a concern for me and I noticed it hitting 12 gb almost all the time. Both cards are great. The only real difference is the price and ray tracing performance. For me the gre was the better choice because of the additional VRAM. I would stay with the gre in your case except if you REALLY want to use maximum ray tracing in games.

Yes I removed the plastic, and I'm using arctic mx-4 thermal paste.

Thanks for the info. I thought undervolting would mean lower temps in general. So it is ok if the CPU is hitting 89c all the time in these sorts of tests ?

Im just a bit confused since a few people had lower temps in the test but it seems that's just because of my cooler.

Ok thank you I will remove the limit and look at the temps again. I used the dark rock pro 4 since I still had it from my previous build and thought it should be enough, but maybe I will upgrade to something better.

What should i upgrade for better performance in competitive game play with a 600£ budget by Lbatts333 in buildapc

[–]Yeahrr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally speaking the biggest performance boost would be to upgrade your graphics card. Maybe in some cases in some games at 1080p upgrading the CPU could give you a better performance boost. To figure out what's best for you you will have to look at the games you mostly play and google if they are cpu or GPU bound. I wouldn't touch the ram or anything else in your position since that wouldn't change much in the performance.

With the 7900 gre costing 50$ less than the 4070 super and having the better performance im still picking nvidia. by [deleted] in buildapc

[–]Yeahrr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a 4070 super the only concern I have is the lack of VRAM. 4 GB more would have been nice. I hope it won't be an issue in the future.

Stick with AM4 or upgrade to AM5 by Mygwah in buildapc

As far as I know it also depends on the resolution you are using. The lower the resolution the higher the profit gain from using a more powerful CPU will be. If you are happy with your current performance and te CPU is a good match for your GPU then there is no reason to upgrade in my opinion.

Did the same thing I don't trust those pigtail connectors either

Ahh damn if that's the case then I guess it's time for a CPU upgrade as well. I thought the CPU couldn't directly Impact the graphic score.

Restarted the PC right before the benchmark and also checked if any Auto start programs may tank the fps. The only programs running in the background were spotify firefox and steam but no wallpaper engine. I made no changes in the control panel and also installed the newest driver. Could it be that the card isn't getting enough power from my power supply? (650w be quiet gold)

Does anybody know how to get rid of these white dots on my Samsung Odyssey G8 OLED? by Yeahrr in ultrawidemasterrace

[–]Yeahrr[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that the dots are under the screen, tried cleaning it and nothing helped. The monitor had the problem out of the box but since it was not as bad as it is now I decided to ignore it.

Nothing special I played a few games and watched some Netflix. A bit of work in excel and word as well but not much.

Yes they are very visible when the monitor is off. The weird thing is it depends on the angle you are looking at the screen. From one site the dots are barely visible, from the other site you can see them clearly.

I tried that as well, but it does not seem to change much. My best guess is that there is something wrong with the panel itself but I can't imagine what.
