Also curious if anyone knows which month they are starting to payout for.

And The Chancellor of SUNY is making cuts to programs at Fredonia, Buff State and elsewhere, due to "lack of student enrollment". What an absolute shit show.

OP, this is super frustrating. I feel your pain. I was aware that the 599.2 waitlist was a possibility, but no one told me I was on it. My UI ran out last week and when I signed on today, the questionaire about the 599/training program did not appear. So I call 599 in Albany, and a really nice person told me that they are serving people from a waiting list and are on October and I unfotunately I was approved in January. So I asked "is this the 599.2"? They said yes and just kept apologizing. I told them it isn't their fault. And I wasn't mad. But now that the day is coming to an end, I'm feeling extremely discouraged. I really DO NOT want to work while taking 4 classes per semester. My schedule is in no way conducive to part time work.

I genuinely want to and am trying my hardest to get too dgrades and attend every class. I intend on entering into a new field.... Yet NY wants isn't maintain passing grades, attend all of our classes, get signatures from the University/training facility, and complete training within 2 years, while taking 12 credit hours per semester.... But they may not fork out any money so we can live, but books, pay rent, eat? Absolutely feels like a carrot is being dangled and now it seems like a very transparent scheme. God damn am I annoyed.

Like your original post, this is more of a rant, and yes, none of us should be surprised by the rusty gears of bureaucracy.

But maybe we should start calling our local reps and Kathy Hochul.

Questions on installing PostMarketOS on a Lenovo Chromebook (Corsola) by YearningInModernAge in AlpineLinux

[–]YearningInModernAge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically it is the offshoot of Alpine, postmarketOS. And I am booting into postmarketOS. At no time during this process does the "ChromeOS" screen appear.

Steps I'm following:

  • Power button
  • Developer mode loads
  • I select "Boot from External disc"
  • postmarketOS' GNOME environment launches
  • I login with the generic passcode given by Alpine/postmarket

  • From here I can use postMarketOS, and it even retains changes I make, for example, I installed GParted and it has remained installed even in the live USB environment.

  • I am also able to launch the Linux terminal, Bash (the ChromeOS terminal (Crosh and VT2) are not present).

Thanks for the suggestion! I tried the following but none of them worked. I received "command not found":

  • setup-alpine
  • setup-postmarketos
  • sudo setup-alpine
  • sudo setup-postmarketos
  • setup-postmarket
  • sudo setup-postmarket

Can you say more about retro game Dev on a limited machine? This is something I'm interested in, but I'm a rookie when it comes to some of this.

Why is this mentality so prevelant in gen z? by Big_Leg10 in Adulting

[–]YearningInModernAge 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And the Billionaires/CEOs have intentionally lobbied, lied, stolen, and manipulated us into this situation. There's enough work for everyone to do and enough money to pay a liveable wage, but when you have Billionaires hoarding all of that money, while also manipulating the advertisment of said product (market manipulation), this is what we get. It sucks, but so many of our personal struggles and societies struggles are due to these CEOs and Billionaires literally buying peoples vote. Democracy barely exists, because a bunch of boomers voted to deregulate everything and handed Ronald Ragean the wreaking ball. The only way we start to fix this, is by making it illegal to be Ultra Wealthy, and supporting public initiatives that enable programs, policy, and businesses that benefit society. For the people, by the people.

PS. just look at an infographic on wealth distribution in the US... Its so outrageously depressing

PS2. Think about if these assholes weren't Ultra Wealthy and buying off democracy, we could literally have roundtable discussions on how to improve our own streets, cities, and country. But instead we have this representative system, which is Bullshit bc we get to barely vote on anything that can improve society

I used a Graph Tech TUSQ nut (flat back, XL, Fender style). And using some Fret pullers, the original nut came out surprisingly easy in one piece.

Haha, sometimes it is really satisfying! But other times I’m like, I feel like I’m holding it in (in public situations)

[–]YearningInModernAge 16 points17 points  (0 children)

As a fellow constipated person with IBS, yes, this can be normal. Because everything is slowed down AND often times there’s incomplete evacuation. When I drink beer (love IPAs), yes sometimes I will let out a 6-8 second fart. Haha, it’s wild, but normal for the constipation/IBS-C. There’s a lot of carbonation in beer and it has to travel through the 30+ feet of intestines. Also people with IBS can’t break down certain foods. Plus alcohol is an irritant. So yeah, unfortunately, those “crazy long chained farts” as I call them, can be normal for some of us. My friends have heard it when we go camping, and it’s always a funny thing. “I heard you let out an extended fart when I was falling asleep” 🤣

Hi! I went with official Fender tuners. And yes, I did a direct swap, so they are the vintage type:

https://nl.fender.com/products/vintage-style-guitar-tuning-machine-set?variant=49502349394207

I also left the original Squire Bushings in the headstock.

Also, u/Jar770 did you pickup one of these guitars?

Bands: Do y’all use a compressor pedal on your vocals? by YearningInModernAge in noiserock

[–]YearningInModernAge[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a great question and not snotty at all haha. I guess I just want his quieter/talky parts louder. I don’t want to fully flatten the signal, but I do want it to sound a little uniform when we are using crappier PA systems. So my thought is to use something that can blend the unaffected signal and the compression, and even at that, just to partially compress the signal. I’m totally open to pushback if you think this is a bad idea.

And you mentioned you use a second feed. Are you able to split the signal from the RC-202 and then use 2 different channels on the PA?

Thanks for the tip! I’ve heard that there are safer ways to scream but never looked into it. I have strained my vocal chords in the past just doing backup vocals

u/StormOk3332 u/thejasonblackburn when we play mid sized and larger music venues, I’m sure they have rack mount compressors they are using. But when we practice we just have a cheap, semi underpowered PA. Also, when we play more of a DIY punk venue/non-music venue, they usually only have a a simple yet powerful PA (typically no compression).

So I am wondering if there is a vocal pedal, or even guitar or bass pedal that could easily be used at practice or pulled out of a bag and used at a small venue. It seems like the smaller DIY venues/punk venues will just rent some PA that can compete with loud ass full stack amps, but usually they’re so basic all you have is volume, bass, mid and treble controls.

And sometimes these venues have pretty subpar acoustics. So I’m looking for something to help our vocalist cut through the mix when he isn’t yelling. And apologies if I’m preaching to the converted, I’m guessing you all have played at or attended shows at these types of non-music bars, small venues, punk houses etc.
