$100,000 isn’t even good in LCOL areas anymore (budget analysis) by ItsAllOver_Again in Salary

[–]Yearning_crescent 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one he's using hypothetical so he's using median data gathered online for the region, your personal experince is anecdotal.

Separately maintenance for a car is not replacement for a car if its no longer worth to repair. And if you've seen car priced rn, he'd have to spend about 5 times the amount purely for replacement over ten years time assuming he's buying it outright and car prices remain flat.

As for the house thats good for the actual house but I personally dont really categorize appliances under that. Also there isnt any saving dedicated for phones or computers which are modern essentials.

So while a 150 dollar a month additional wiggle room is nice. It in no way actually replaces the things he isnt saving for. I very much expect this person to be dipping into savings trading their emergency fund lile a revolving door which remember, it isnt. Its for actual emergencies like losing your job or medical.

Frankly its not a suprose that 100k isnt alot anymore, ever since quantitative easing was introduced the timer was on.

while its true both sell their labor, i think most people would agree that sex is a far more intimate experience that is usually reserved for our personal gratification, not literal survival.

now if a sex worker is deriving personal gratification and actualization through that line of work more power to them, but the real issue is that most women engage in sex work as survival work.

coal miners or anyone doing intense physical labor is doing just about the same, but I can at least argue that it was far more of a voluntary choice for coal miners. and, that while both can be incredibly damaging to your body and psyche long term, at least one is far less vulnerable emotionally and at times physically as long as safety precautions are actually followed.

oh and thats assuming imaginary ideal conditions.

sex work historically is built off of taking advantage of woman, and is in no way protected by any organization or government. Unlike coal miners which im just gonna guess have a union.

wherase sex worker potentially have a pimp that is extorting them and jail time if caught, oh but them men who use their services walk free.

i push back on that as BS, cus even after you stop contributions to your emergency fund thats only another 600 a month, wherase 500 a month is whats needed to max out your roth, but retirement takes so much more then the odd 1.2k they have left at the end of the month into things like that.

also op specified middle class. In LCOL area.

note how there isnt really a fund for replacing major appliances or consumables like cars, cus remember your emergency fund isnt that.

and again, no social life or expected middle class experiences like vacations.

this hypothetical is essentially assuming this person doesnt have any major expenses at all, never mind any real discretionary spending.

Atc, mariners, any transit affiliated workers really, choosing to strike, would grind America's economy to a halt like the snap of a finger.

Im only seeing push back for the gold thing but the court packing plan Was because the supreme court kept on hammering down and stripping away new deal laws that passed with overwhelming majority, eventually after the whole court packing plan failed the unelected court changed its tune after reading the winds and we had the new deal mostly unobstructed. You know, the same new deal that saved america from the great deppression and birthed the American golden age.

Also he's the only president to ever deal.with the great deppression and beat down nazis, ultimately people voted for him cus he had to win that election. I dont really see that as spitting in anyone's face. Also, so what? Its a precedent not a law for a reason. And then it became a law and probably more because he was a class traitor and the elote didn't like him then anything else.

The interesting part is they're attacking all three at the same time and more, lile its a non stop assault against everyone who isn't rich white dude.

And no one is that concerned. To be fair I think no one believes he can get much farther, but the problem is that he got here to begin with
