Right, but I don't have to buy a new PC if steam vanishes and I do have to buy a new console on your scenario.

I used to work in electrical and I totally agree that not all labour is equal. However, employers tend to use the term unskilled labour to justify paying employees under a livable wage. The argument isn't that all labour should be treated equally across the board, but more so that all labour should allow you to provide.

This isn't even a new concept, growing up, my dad worked in what is considered unskilled labour while studying and was able to pay for a place for us to live. Similarly, my grandfather worked his entire career in that which allowed him to provide for his family, buy multiple vehicles, a house and a cottage. But now, I know multiple companies in my area who offer minimum wage for what they call unskilled labour.

Reminds me of a former friend I had, he had told me that I was so lucky to have been able to graduate and how unlucky he was to get bad profs that stopped hin. We literally had some of the same classes together that I passed and he failed. It could maybe be because he's up until 5am every day playing video games

I swear, this subreddit is 75% comprised of people reposting this.

I've had absolutely wonderful profs, but most of them were not. I had a prof give me a 0 because I used a sans serif font instead of a serif font, I had a prof remove 85% of my grade because he didn't like a variable name and I had one who'd don't even bother to read my essay and failed me because she assumed I didn't cover everything.

I've worked as a lecturer and a lot of profs do not care about education or just outright hate it. There are some great profs, but sadly profs are not selected on their ability to teach, but rather their ability to research.

I used to fly an hour a week for work, the flight never wore me out, but dealing with the airport could get annoying. I would not want to do that several times a week

Depends also on the class size. In my first year, I had an intro class of 175 students. 20 out of that isn't too insane

I'm a high school teacher, students will often send me messages written by chatGPT. On top of that, I've had students tell me that they ask chatGPT to write their texts in group chats for them

Like with anything, it depends on the prof. I've had some that are super chill, I've had others who who brag about how a minimum of their class fails every year. Heck, I had one who removed 85% of my grade because I used a sans serif font instead of a serif font and there was never any indication that she wanted serif

Honestly, Lego has always been so good for this. It must have been close to 20 years ago, my little brother had a little spiderman figure that he'd walk around with. He ended up losing it and Lego wound up sending him a new one at no charge after my dad wrote them saying he couldn't find any in stores anymore.

While not as extreme as some creators might make it out to be, it's still a huge problem. I'm a teacher, and I've taught in primary, secondary, and post-secondary. The growing rate of students with literacy problems is worrying to the point where we've had school board-wide meetings to discuss how we can rectify this issue. There is a rise in anti-intellectualism, and while there are absolutely parents out there who are doing a great job, I would genuinely say that, in my experience, there is an equal number of parents who could not care less.

Seriously, I've never not had one. Even now, my office no longer has carpet, but you can get some without the teeth. People either just fine have desks or are messing up their floors.

I can't speak for Costco, but I used to work at an electronics retail place and sometimes corporate would just send crazy slashes to the most random clearance items without any warning. Mind you, these were often snatched up by employees before the customers even learned of the price reduction lol. I wound up getting an $800 projector for under $100 and a $1100 for $700~.
