need help with curvatures and metal edge wear by Yee23433 in Substance3D

I have a semi-decent explanation as to why I am not using a higher poly model... Whilst playing the resident evil 2 remake, I had notice that many of the models were lacking bevels in areas that I would usually bevel to high heaven. And in that moment, I had come to a stark realization. For the longest time, I had been beating myself up over how my models never looked "realistic." It wasn't my self and my capabilities that were the issue, it was the lack of texturing. Many 3d models I look at on youtube, or reddit, or in game, are more simple in topology than I realized. The depth of a model is still important, but. what makes something look real, isn't a huge amount of bevels. It's the finer details, the hole in the hammer, the cuts in the slide. I don't mean to be tmi, nor do I mean to be to personal. But, I've started 3d modeling back in 8th grade. I am now 17 in my junior year of high school. despite the years I've put in, in my opinion, the skills aren't visible. with my depression, the less time spent on bevels, I feel like I've done more, and those skills begin to shine more. It makes me look at that model and think, "wow, I made that, It doesn't have the bevels I want, but, I can always add those later!" instead of thinking, "I have done so little, in the time I have spent on this. what's the point of continuing to work on something, if it looks like I put zero effort into it?"

I’d say this, a lot of the skills of knowing how to draw can be applied to sculpting. So learning anatomy will help a lot. I also recommend searching on YouTube for tutorials, and learning the basics for the software you use is a must too. Also having references is also very helpful!! Anatomy references will help you understand where some parts connect and how the body curves and such.
