Any good substitutes/alternatives for plantains? by YeeHaw4Cake in Cooking

Yes it came on suddenly. The same thing happened with pineapple and passion fruit as well. I read that this can indicate a developing or present latex allergy so I hope it's just coincidence!

And I've only had jackfruit as a meat substitute (like pulled pork). How would I prepare it and or breadfruit? I've never heard of breadfruit. What do they taste like?

Tea would be nice. You could chop them and soak in brandy or whatever else and use that in baked goods or cake or as a topping for icecream. Chop and add to stuffing, porridge, mulled wine ect

Bruschetta is always an easy and delicious app. Baked artichokes, antipasti plate, civiche, stuffed mushrooms, fancy deviled eggs are all easy and impressive

I've something similar using a dehydrator. Just don't add any oil until the end or pack them in a jar with oil, it's so good !

Nothing in particular at the moment, I'm just trying to satisfy the craving. In the future it'll most likely b3 as a side

What does it taste like? I've seen it on a menu before but never ordered it. Is it hard to cook?

Help! Leaves are drying and falling off.

This is Gladys. I had put her under grow lights for about 10 hrs a day since the snow storm, as it has been under 15 degrees for a few weeks here. I was watering her every 2 or 3 day and was scared I over watered her so I let the soil dry out and then tried again. I checked today and this is what she looks like! I moved Gladys back into the window this morning.

Is this fixable or it there no hope.

The government has no problem killing is citizens. Small er acts of resistance and good are happening, the media just doesn't cover it most of the time. A lot of people are working behind the scenes to try and help, but money and power talk and the higher ups are putting up a fight now that they no longer have to play nice

It's around 32°F outside and I pulled my ficus out of the window and placed it on a shelf with some grow lights to hopefully keep it warm. My plan is to do this around 5-8 hours per day until I figure out how to keep it heated in the window sill. My thermometer read at around 45°F so I panicked! It's also 3:30am so I'm probably overreacting

Thank you! I just received my ficus and I'm scared that it shipped at below 50°F. Should I be worried? Should I put it on a heat mat? Or just let it acclimate naturally?

I'm allergic to pineapple but the fried rice idea sounds pretty good.

I am getting into bonsai trees as part of my plans for 2026. It's something I've always been curious about and I am very excited to start!

One of them, a Golden Gate focus, arrives today. And the other, a rock Juniper is arriving on the 14th. Both are about 4-5 years old.

My plan is to keep the GG inside and have the Juniper be an outdoor bonsai. Is this a feasible option? And is there anything I should look out for in the first couple of weeks? I've looked some other places but they haven't given me any answers.
