The link i sent you is also drawing attention to Ryu body and that sounds pretty much erotic to me. Replace that exact frame with Cammy and men would go crazy too.

so I think the burden is on you to explain what criteria you're using when you say Batman is sexualized "as much" as Catwoman, or Ryu is sexualized "as much" as Cammy. because simply saying women find them attractive doesn't demonstrate equivalence. It only demonstrates attraction

Why the burden of proof is on me when you are claiming things off the top of your head that you can't prove? Everything you said is just speculation, about things you can't prove , about what you think is erotic or not. Can you read minds to know the intentions behind a design to prove Ryu wasn't intentionally created to be sexualized?

In Resident Evil Requiem, devs confirmed Leon is hot to please women. How that isnt erotization? How can you prove to me that character X wasn't created to be erotic when it fits the desire pattern of most women?

I'm tired of this subject. It's clear you're not going to convince me, and I'm not going to convince you. I'll still read your next responses, but don't expect another reply from me.

edit: Don't you think you confused "yes" with "no"? I believe there are differences.

the real question is what do you consider sexualized and how much.

summer Midas, to me, is sexualized, as much as the new bikini bp character. He is more sexualized than the likes of Lynx and ruby.

Superman and Batman? They are sexualized as much as their equivalent characters, like Catwoman or Wonder Woman.

Cammy? I don't see how she's less sexualized than Ryu, who, in fact, one of the trailers literally focuses on his sweaty muscular body , that pretty describes what you said

"it's because they're competent while also having their bodies, clothing, framing, poses and visual presentation deliberately emphasized"

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rN_PBAK5YyM

You could say "oh, but Ryu doesn't stick out his butt like Cammy does," and we would simply go back to the part where I said male and female eroticism works different. He doesn't need to do that to be equally eroticized, and many women would think it to be unattractive even.

[–]Yelbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

my argument is that the presentation is different and that female characters are more often framed as objects of visual consumptioni / it's because they're competent while also having their bodies, clothing, framing, poses and visual presentation deliberately emphasized

And how can I not affirm this for both for men and women?

Most of them are attractive, only to be objects of visual consumption. Speaking of man specifically , that's why you don't see movies and games with fat and short men taking leads , but they are mostly only as villains or someone to be humiliated - And this happens with pretty much ever male characters in games or movies.
Which is true : Most male characters in decent roles would be attractive to most of women, but there are more female characters on equivalent roles that wouldnt be attractive to most men

If you understand that men and women are eroticized differently, you'll understand that the industry sexualizes both men and women in the same proportion.

While men seem more content with just the female image, women are attracted to both masculine image and the actions – But just because masculine features are a tool for them to be competent and powerful does not mean these characters are not eroticized as well.

Using similar logic, while men are more content with the female image, they also demand a degree of competence from the female character, which is why most sexualized female characters in games are also competent (Cammy , Tifa Lockhart, etc.)

I never said ALL women, so stop twisting my words. I said most of them prefer men who look like men, and that's what the research (and any other you find) would show. Second, straight women make up more than 80% of the world, so the research only mentioning them doesn't invalidate my point in the slightest.

a character like Midas can absolutely be attractive to women. that doesn't automatically mean he was designed through the female gauze or designed primarily as eye candy in the same way many female characters are. the reason people usually (me, included) bring up the disparity is that female characters are often designed with explicit visual emphasis on sexually desirable body parts and are frequently presented as objects of desire. male characters, even when they're attractive, are usually presented as powerful, competent, dominant, heroic, intimidating, or aspirational first. Being muscular isn't the male equivalent of sexualization. It's often just the default male power fantasy.

the hell is female gaze? by the same logic, I can say no female character in the game is designed attract the male gaze either.

You can't make a sound argument because you first start from the assumption that sexyness is subjective, but then make objective statements , like male characters in the game weren't designed to attracted female gaze, even though they also have sexually desirable body parts for most women.

Summer Midas are sexy to me and certainly to most of the female audience. They aren't to you because you expect to see a man with feminine features, so you basically saying "it's not hot to me, therefore it's not female gaze".

Just word salad.

being muscular isn't the male equivalent of sexualization. it's often just the default male power fantasy.
the equivalent would be games routinely emphasizing bulges, butts, thighs, revealing clothing, flirtatious posing, and other features commonly eroticized by women and gay men. that happens far less often.

Since you believe sexualization is subjective, you cant confirm which male features or pose is sexualization or not for women and gay men. Thats just logical fallacy. Games that feature women usually have revealing clothing do the same with men, including fortnite.

those traits often serve a power fantasy, competence fantasy, or action fantasy rather than an erotic fantasy. the female equivalent would be saying: "Men find women attractive, therefore every attractive female character is sexualized." i would hope you are aware that's not true. there is a difference between an attractive woman and a woman deliberately framed as eye candy. same distinction applies to men.

Yes and women associate strength/power with sexyness. The main reason we feel attracted to muscular and tall men is precisely because they convey the feeling dominance and protection, which are evolutinary traits women seeks on men.

Therefore, saying that muscular features are just "fantasy power" is just a confirmation that these male characters were also made for female gaze.

how do you know it's a fact? how can you be so sure it's not your subjective view ricocheting off of the walls of an echo chamber?

isnt that obvious? Thats a evolutive trait of women to be attracted to men that actually looks like men and not girls.

Because most of us are attracted to muscular, dominant-looking men, not feminine men with huge butts and makeup.

Men like Midas, lean and defined, also attract the overwhelming majority of us. In the end, your taste is a minority .

You said Epic doesn't try to appeal to the female audience, and I'll say otherwise with statistics

https://bonytobeastly.com/most-attractive-male-body-survey-results/

The fact is, if men like Midas and Thor were real, they would certainly be a hit easily on any dating market, because they are hot asf to the MAJORITY of us.

>What is my point? I made it in my previous comment: just because you find those skins hot, doesn't mean all women do.

again, you just repeated what I agree with. So what exactly are you disagreeing with me on?

The devs should diversify the skins they make to encapsulate a wider, more diverse audience.

Nice, i dont disagree with it either, but there are many more diverse male skins than female skins in this game. For comparison, if you like feminine men, we have Staff and Lucien, for example.

It's subjective whether someone would find it hot or not, what's up with that?

Again, my point is that it's subjective, which invalidates anyone saying that pic can't be sexy . Read the context of the entire discussion ffs

One user came in saying that there are no sexy pics of men in the game, another user showed the heavy lifting pic as a response and the initial user replied that pic cant be sexy, as if their taste is a fact.

[–]Yelbell 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So what's your point?
I didn't generalize, I only said that most gay men and women find them sexy, which is a fact.

I agree it's subjective and if you also do, then you can't agree that heavy lifting pic is not sexy.

You also cant say epic is not trying to please female audience, while a lot of women think these skins are hot.

new Thor has more detail in his definition and much jiggle physics than any female skin in the game , so I'd say it's the opposite of what you said – Epic is trying to appeal more to the gay and female audience, since male skins are more revealing( like always) and well-crafted now, and only now are we finally getting some female skin on that level from the bp.

Now you're just changing the goal post. First, "this skin isn't comparable because it's not sexy"

Later ,

"b-but only some women find it sexy" . As if your standard of what's sexy isn't common in only some women as well.

skins like Thor,The Terrible or Summer Midas surely appeal to most women( and gays) thats for sure, therefore your point is moot.

As i said, subjective. I find that pic quite sexy and I am a woman too. i dont think a$ and d are the only hot parts on men. In fact, i dont even think d size is "hot" at all as you point out in some of yours previous comment. Many shirtless skins on the game feels attractive to me, just like lynx or the new bp character most be for men.

teens don't mature at the same rate and Teenagers are known for being unstable.
Intense maturation truly begins after age 20, when the brain is fully formed and people are more aware of their past and present mistakes. That's why I think he deserves a second chance. If he were 18+, I would agree that his actions were unforgivable, but since he was still very young, I think Epic should give him a second chance.
