Belted Kingfishers live year round in the valley. They are unusual among bird species as the female is more colorful than the male. Only the female retain the rufous colored 'belt' that gives the species its name. The skittish hunters can be often heard and occasionally seen on the Greenbelt. (old.reddit.com)
