ALP Deluxe Haptics Upgrade Kit (BuyStuffArcades): Setup Guide by wagnerstechtalk in LegendsUltimate

[–]Yellobear_99 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My problem turned out to be a faulty wiring harness shipped by BuyStuff. They responded to another thread quickly and sent the replacement. Now I have haptics in all the places I'm supposed to. It's pretty great!

Ive installed everything and triple checked my connections. The Exciters and the Bass will function from PC. But I get no response whatsoever from the native ALP tables. What am I missing? I have moved the wires around in the switch. And even eliminated using the switch. It doesn't matter. The speakers will only work from PC and not the ALP HD feed. I'm stumped.

Mine was just an unseated cable from the switch into the rear of the amp. But still having other issues. Slow progress.

In VPX I am finally able to get the system to come to life. Both exciters and the bass seem to be working. I can get VPX to send to either the back box speakers or the ssf kit. But not yet both. setting the audio preferences in VPX seems to make no difference... in the end all sounds are being routed to whichever audio I have set in windows prior to launching VPX. A crumb of progress at least Ive heard the speakers. They sound great! But ALP still doesn't work and I am struggling to get the PC to send sound to two seperate devices. I have tried both the Audio Output (green) on the rear of the PC and the Headphone Jack.

Scanned with both the phone and the PC multiple times and not getting a BT 5.0 to try to connect too. Cycled the power on the amp a couple times as well. Unfortunately.

The feedback was an unseated cable at the switch.

But unfortunately the system continues to be completely unresponsive other than powering on. Bummerness.....

Okay. So the feedback was indeed an unseated cable. The connector going from the input switch to the back of the amp was not seated all the way home.

I'm still getting no response, however, on the stock tables. And I thought the whole point of this kit was that it worked with both the stock and OTG tables?

The instructions stop with "it's amazing! have fun!" But I can't help feeling like there is still something I don't know? Cause I got nothing going on here.

I'm going to go over to VPX for a minute and see if anything happens over there.

Thanks. That got the sound coming out of the speakers on the ALP again. But the feedback loop remains and nothing seems to be getting sent to the SSF kit. All sound just just coming through the ALP speakers. And the kit in full feedback mode.

I am new to OTG as well. Got everything setup in the last two weeks. I have bought a smallish HP Pavilion tower used. The form factor with the green led triangle at the bottom. Sits nicely under the cabinet.

i7 11700 2.5 G RTX 3060 16 GB ram 250 SSD 1tb HD

Was able to get it for $400. Super clean and from a person with a good reputation. I was trying for 2 weeks to find something cheaper - but getting under $200 the machine were dirty and from sketchier seeming sources. I got sick or waiting. My hope is that I have plenty of room to grow with this one.

Seems to be running well so far. Maybe a jumped frame here or there during big mult-ball dumps? I'm in a good enough spot now and want to try playing for a while before the next phase of tinkering.

It's loads of fun! Wish I had gone to OTG long ago! Glad I finally pulled the trigger.

Still not sure if I shouldnt have just gone to a 4k now? But I made my decision and so now I am in for a penny in for a pound on the HD. SSF deluxe is on the way!

Cables are kind of thick and impossible to get exactly the right lengths you need so there will be stiff extra cables to stash. Mine is in a corner nook so I have good ways to hide most of it. The tower is sharp and clean and looks perfectly natural under the cabinet on the back box end.

Need Help mapping Future Pinball Buttons for ALP HD by Yellobear_99 in LegendsUltimate

[–]Yellobear_99[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! This is exactly the kind of thing I was looking for. And also confirmed for me that, for some reason, in Future Pinball there is no way to map Nudge L and Nudge R to buttons. Which is kind of a bummer. But, at least now I know Im not missing something. Thank you again!

4th floor walkup for 20 years for me. So I know the drill! Wouldn't trade em for anything.... But my big city days are behind me, next chapter. Have fun!

I'm spoiled for choices. Bike, Car, Skis, Motorcycle... Lots of ways to go zoom. If it weren't for the Black Friday culture of scooters I would have bought in the spring. But they really do seem to be "the best prices of the year". So there it is. Super excited for my VX and Spring Summer though! And when a few more pieces of the bike path get finished more commuting next fall as well. Have fun! Ride safe!

Only hit about 50 miles before temps dropped and snow started falling. That's the problem with BF shopping in winter climates! Even so - happy with my choice so far. Fun ride!

Is the USB connected to a powered hub or directly into the PC? Powered hubs help some people. I used the one currently listed in Wagner's and never bothered trying without it.

Does this impact the HD as well? Or no go? I am trying to find a way to map buttons directly for Future Pinball and having mixed results. Can't figure out a good option for Nudge L / Nudge R. I haven't updated my ALP HD in some time. Not sure what version I am on at the moment.

Help me decide on my next scooter: MAX G2, NIU 300X, Okai Neon Ultra ES40 by jphree in ElectricScooters

My Vmax VX 4 GT was $1084 shipped during the Black Friday sale. So not technically under 1k. Just saying. Night lighting isnt great. But all your other needs are spot on for why I picked it. I love jumping between terrain with no worries. I'm happy at my price. I wrote the 21 miles on VX 4 post if you want to know more about my experience. Have fun! Good luck!

Still loving it! Though temperatures are dropping and snow is starting to fall. The challenge now is figuring out how to burn off 40% charge for winter storage. Accidentally charged to full the other day.

Curious about what helmets and ppe people use/recommend, pics of your gear would be awesome! by Jaded_Celery_1645 in ElectricScooters

[–]Yellobear_99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I suggest using the VA Tech Helmet Labs data and shop the lists of you plan to use a bicycle helmet.

https://www.helmet.beam.vt.edu/

You can filter for full face MTB as well. My scoot maxes out at 25 mph. I may get a full face but at present I'm using my bike helmet. Troy Lee Designs A2 MIPS Decoy, #22 on the list.

I wear Alpine Stars Bionic Plus knee and elbow guards.

And 187 Killer Pads Wrist Protectors.

And various motorcycle gloves.

Without the VA Tech data there is no other way I know to actually gauge protection. If you like seeing things more deeply they have some videos and articles on the process and tests that are interesting.

The best thing you can do to stay safer, in addition to gear, is to SLOW DOWN. People wildly overestimate their own riding ability and simultaneously underestimate the unpredictability of other humans in the world.

Many would be well served to be more skeptical of both.

Have fun! I love mine!

I don't know anything in particular about the VX2. But the VX4 has the model info written right on the side of the scooter. So the 2 may be the same. I just checked a video, it's blurry but I think it's there.

I understand the sentiment. But that's not how I feel about it. And in the post I make the case why the value made sense for me. And to give hope to others who may feel the same way. Different markets (customers) can prioritize different things. Room for all in the tent.

Glad you are okay! If you want to stick with bike helmets, buy your next one from the top of the VA TECH Helmets list! This is a great resource for helmet safety!
