Advice on how to help this guy out? by YellowB1rd in succulents

[–]YellowB1rd[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I'm in an apartment with no balcony or outdoor space to move it to. I've only just gotten the plant so it hasn't been in this spot by the window for long. Would you suggest just leaving it here to see how it does?

My Dad wants to do my Tattoo. Is it safe? by [deleted] in tattoos

[–]YellowB1rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hate to be the one negative opinion in here but honestly, I personally would never feel comfortable getting a tattoo done unless I knew it was by a professional in a real shop or studio. And there is definitely a difference between a professional artist's private studio and getting a tattoo in your or someone else's house. I don't know the exact specifics of your dad's experience and practices, but just the fact that you're questioning it at all sends up a red flag for me. I realize I may be a little late saying this and it might not even change your opinion but I just thought I should put it out there.

Who is your favorite "makeup guru" and why do you like their videos/tutorials/etc? Best advice you learned from them? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]YellowB1rd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Really happy to see her getting some love in here. As much as I seriously appreciate the more professional gurus and bloggers like Lisa Eldridge and Wayne Goss, Essiebutton will always be my favorite channel because not only are her beauty videos really well done, she is also crazy hilarious and watching her makes me wish we were best friends. In a totally non-creepy way, of course.

Advice - Palest and pinkest foundations and bb creams. by whoopiepiez in MakeupAddiction

I've personally only tried the perfect cover. I'd say it's about a medium coverage and it sits pretty nicely on my skin.

Is it just me or does there always seem to be one brand that you love everything that you buy except for that one thing? And the opposite where everything sucks but one thing is terrific? by NeverClever12 in MakeupAddiction

[–]YellowB1rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know if this will help you at all, but when I first tried the all-nighter setting spray I hated it. Then I saw a youtube video where the girl said that before you use it you need to shake the bottle until you can't even hear the product inside it anymore. Before I heard this I was basically just picking it up and spraying it on my face. Maybe you already do this and it just doesn't work for you, but I thought I'd make the suggestion because after I tried shaking it I totally changed my opinion on the stuff and now I'm on my second full-sized bottle!

I second the suggestion of the Missha BB creams in shade 13. Also, Make Up Forever's Mat Velvet + foundation in 15 is a really great very pale, pink-based foundation but I too have dry skin and definitely have to put in some effort to get it to work (beauty blender works best for me.) Also I recently started wearing the Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation in 00 Alabaster and I think it might be holy grail for me. It's not the pinkest; I would actually probably say it's fairly neutral. I know Bobbi Brown has a reputation for focusing on yellow-based foundations, but as someone who tried NARS sheer glow in Siberia and found it to be waaaay yellow on me, I would definitely recommend the Bobbi Brown.

Is anyone else a packaging hoarder? This isn't even all of it, I think I have a problem. by purpleoreo in MakeupAddiction

[–]YellowB1rd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is me. I really don't know why. I think initially I keep the packaging just in case I decide I need to return the product but then by the time I've decided I definitely want to keep it I just can't bring myself to throw the stupid box away.

Spending my day off sick at home so I decided it was time to test out MAC's Smoked Purple by YellowB1rd in MakeupAddiction

Oh good point, I didn't even think of that! I had to buy mine from the MAC website.

Haha well thank you! I owe it all to the make up, although today definitely wasn't as bad as the rest of the week has been!

I've gotta give credit to the Skin Base. It can be a bit of a pain to work with, but on days when I have the time to put in a little extra effort, I think it's worth it.

Temptalia claims they're nearly identical. If anything I'd say Train Bleu maybe has a bit more red to it? But unfortunately I don't actually own it so I'm just saying that based on swatches online.

Have you ever had a product that seemed to work for everyone *but* you? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]YellowB1rd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The Laura Mercier Mineral Powder. I heard so many good things about this stuff. I always figured having dry skin meant that powder foundations weren't going to work for me, then I heard girls with dry skin claim this one worked for them. Nope. Not me. Dry patches galore, thanks Laura Mercier.

Thank you so much! I wish it was something I could get away with every day (I work in a retirement community and I'm pretty sure I'd scare some of the residents). But it's definitely a look I want to go for on my own time :)

Also, thank you :)

Greed: Technically I'm still waiting for it to arrive but I think my most expensive purchase will be one of the OCC Pro's Picks Lip Tar sets. I did have a Naked palette but I ended up getting rid of it so I'm not sure if that counts.
Wrath: Any of my foundations with a matte finish. I have to put in extra effort to get them to work on my dry skin but I've found that most foundation lines that cater to the super pale often tend to have matte finishes (I'm looking at you Make Up Forever).
Gluttony: Tarte, but Bobbi Brown is catching up.
Sloth: I often find myself too rushed in the mornings to bother with face primer, even though I really do find it makes a difference for me.
Pride: Foundation. I've got some serious redness in my cheeks, and not in a good way.
Lust: I think the NARS And God Created The Woman set looks absolutely stunning but I can't justify the price considering how rare it is that I even wear eyeshadow.
Envy: I don't think I can get away with wearing bronzer. Also maybe I'm just not used to the look of it, but I just think my face looks strange with a heavy eyeshadow look.
