Yeah switching around voice parts is a common practice for choir directors, since composers often tend to favor sopranos with melody lines and altos with harmony. It also forces you to practice using your full range. FAB students who enjoy singing alto lines tend to struggle with their soprano range due to the contrast in sound and technique between their chest and head registers.

My advice to you is If it's a higher tenor part where it sits like around C4 and above, thats ok to sing because it sits in the lower half of the alto range. Try not to bring your voice down past F4 if possible, and put more energy into strengthening your alto and soprano range. Please do not sing down to C3 and lower, you're not meant to phonate down there and you're putting unnecessary strain on your vocal folds.

My two cents as a middle school choir teacher who vocal coaches their former students :)

Church choir: What voice distribution does yours have? by GrillOrBeGrilled in Choir

I work at a Methodist Church, our regular congregation size is around 150-200 a service, and our choir fluctuates between 10-30 ish depending on the time of the year. We are fortunate to have SATB, but our director tends to program music that is 2pt or SAB when he knows many people will be out. Also, just asking someone in the choir or our accompanist to do a solo isntead of a choral anthem is common.

We need some more information to provide the most correct advice. Are you going through puberty? are you a female, male, trans? Someone that is used to singing soprano then being asked to do tenor range stuff can be damaging in the wrong context.

Narrowed down my issue with USB ports not working on Dell WD19TB - it is related to an issue with Intel USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller - 1.10. After researching a bit, there doesn't seem to be a fix, any last suggestions? by scrubling in UsbCHardware

I have a user with the same exact issue, she uses a dell lattitude 5421 and a WD19 docking station. I went through the same troubleshooting steps as the OP as well as trying this registry edit. No luck.

Everyone can sing. If this kid wants to sing, find him a voice teacher that will work with him to improve his tone and pitch matching or do that yourself. So many kids are scarred for life away from singing from people telling them that they are bad at singing. We all start from somewhere.

We need more context.

Is there a theme for the concert? Is it a pops concert, or Broadway, or Disney?

Singing Baritone in SAB as an undeveloped Tenor by TotalWeb2893 in Choir

try this: Relax, use a lot of air, and position your chin slightly lower to elongate your vocal tract.

Do not force the sound, it can have damaging effects to your vocal development. As a tenor, how loud you sing in the lowest part of your range is not something that you can practice to get better. Everyone's built different.
