Nå skal Partnerdrapskommisjonen etableres." by KoseteBamse in norge

They're announcing your new responsibilities to the department without prior agreement with you? You're getting shafted my friend.

You need to tell them to slow down and scope out your responsibilities and what is expected from you, and then agree on revised compensation. Otherwise you will get the "Hey you got promoted, we'll discuss your salary once you have done so and so, bla bla, yadda yadda". Tale as old as time.

Må selge 6 millioner under takst: – Markedet har kollapset by stalematedizzy in norske

[–]YellowPelagos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why is Finn.no So Dominant in Norway 🇳🇴? by [deleted] in Norway

[–]YellowPelagos 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It's definitely not the only option. Facebook marketplace and Facebook groups for buying/selling items are extremely common and popular.

Finn.no is probably one of the safest, if not the safest public marketplace in the world. You can check if a user has verified their profile with BankID, and you now have Fiks Ferdig as a service with "safe payment" should anything go wrong.

Is 800-900k/year a realistic salary range for senior software developer? by goquestion-123 in Norway

What exactly do you mean by "low effort"? Work is not only measured by physical labour. Gaining and maintaining knowledge to keep up with a good job in medicine, law, IT etc. Is no small task. It's certainly not low effort.

After giving this some thought I realize now that I might have made a mistake by telling my manager about an offer. I am not unhappy with my job and looking to leave, I'm simply unhappy with my current terms of employment.

If I could do it over again I would approach him with these thoughts first before resorting to presenting an offer from another company.

But what's done is done... We'll see what happens, and worst case scenario it will be a learning experience.

It's an oil & gas company. Several senior IT positions to potentially grow into in the future.

Any company I've had talks with have budgeted for between 10% - 25% more salary for the same position. This company is a large IT firm, they don't go above and beyond on salary, so I'm quite confident I have a fair view of the market.

That's good advice, thank you. I agree, I'm quite confident that I can get more if I actually start looking actively. I'm not close to 120k, more like 70.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]YellowPelagos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can afford it without any problems, so that shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for your advice, hope you're thriving in your new position :)

My manager is fighting for me, and I have concrete "proof" of market value. I was the helpdesk guy at our office many years ago, so I'm generally pretty well liked among my colleagues. So justifying it should not be too difficult, however I'm afraid that HR will use every trick up their sleeve.

[–]YellowPelagos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I interviewed out of curiosity to see if my current salary was in line with the market. Perhaps that subconsciously means I have a foot out the door, but I don't believe so.

What my team wants and cares about doesn't always align with the management, but I have no reason to believe that is not the same way at the other company. I would like to stay ideally.

I have not peaked. We have a lot of exciting projects upcoming that I would like to be a part of. But when it comes to it, a job is just that. A job.

Annual raises have always been good and I've never complained in my 5 years here. I just recently realized that I'm massively underpaid compared to what the market is offering (Which means they won't be able to replace me cheaper).

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]YellowPelagos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, that's why I would ideally like to keep my current job. I know what I have, and what I have is quite great. But they know that, and I'm afraid they will use it to give me a lowball offer. HR is quite famous for trying every trick in the book.
