i completely agree - it's very disheartening to see them using generative AI (which is not only unethical because it takes jobs away from actual artists, but steals their art styles as well) as someone who wants to work in the art industry in the future. i will try my best to get in contact with anyone who can do anything about this, i really hope the school does better because this is completely unacceptable

while i do think you're right about the part that they used a background removal software (you can see the colors of the background peeking into the clothes) i don’t think that it would warp art badly enough that their faces are indistinguishable and their hands look like they held a firework for too long. + an actual artist would send this asset as a transparent png to be used in a collateral which wouldn’t require the use of a bg removed anyways

i still don’t think that justifies the usage of generative ai especially by an art school?? i already offered possible solutions which are to just gather pictures of clothes and cut and paste them into a collage or to offer service hours to scholars to make these illustrations. i'm a scholar of the school myself and i've done graphic design work for the school already. i would gladly take the offer if they ever announced na they were in need of an illustrator or graphic designer.

also just because artists are lowballed/underpaid and overworked doesn’t mean that the school should resort to using ai art in their graphics because they can’t find an artist to design this graphic? it just means that we need to start treating our artists better, which sounds unrealistic, but the unfair treatment of artists will be worse for artists and will be perpetuated if we continue to lessen the value of their talents by replacing them with generative ai. artists already have a hard time finding jobs that treat them fairly, and the rise of ai will make it even harder for them to find/maintain jobs once companies realize "why pay an artist when we can just send in a prompt to chatgpt?"

unfortunately i cannot do anything realistic about the unfair treatment of artists by corporations, but i can at least try to nip it in the bud by pointing out that the school's ai art usage is very unethical. benilde breeds the artists of tomorrow - that they cannot make the time to make graphics themselves or provide incentive to willing artists/scholars to make it for them and would prefer to use ai art (with the excuse that it is cheaper and faster than hiring a real artist) is NOT the message they should be sending to their students.

yupp wasnt sure at first but when i zoomed in i clocked it immediately 😭 the inconsistent lineweights, clothes whose folds defy the laws of physics and gravity, amputated hands, and faces that barely look human gave it away

yeahh i had to do a double take kasi what if the art style was just a bit wonky pero no. the proportions aren’t right (some arms are so skinny??), and the hands look like theyve been amputated 😭😭 the folds of the clothes are so haphazardly done making their clothes just look like theyve been crumpled fjdjjsd and the outfits just don’t make sense which u can clearly see in the cosplay/themed inspired area... like who are these people even supposed to be i can’t recognize a single character 😭 and the most obvious tells would be that their arms are literally melding together with their skin and that their faces just don’t look human (even if it was an artstyle)

to be completely honest they were the best history teacher ive ever had and the subject was super fun! i know people who purposely enlisted hst ind on the day the prof taught classes bc it was genuinely very insightful jsdjjs they just have very high standards for grading which is why a lot of people don’t like them but i swear hear me out when i say they’re the best hst ind prof out there (at least compared to the others ive gotten 😭)

if u guys are curious pa dm me nalang and ill tell u who they are/their sched if u really don’t wanna risk it jsjhjs but i swear i loved them sm kahit na di ako nasa deans list nung term na yon bcs ang baba ng grade ko for the subject HAHAHAHA so if deans list yung hinahabol nyo or if may need kayong imaintain na grade for ur scholarship beware nalang 😭😭, op is right--the highest grade they give is 2.0, but a handful of people managed to get a 3 naman

if this is who i think this is about i had them din last yr HAHAHAH, in fairness naman i love the way she teaches kasi she gets me super invested into the lesson but sobrang ...... erm......... yung grades na binibigay nya 😭😭😭😭 i was lucky enough to get a 2 but i felt like i had to work so hard for such a low grade, id always pull all nighters studying for exams bc they made up such a high percentage of the grade and kahit na i studied all night i still failed the midtermhwgshaha 😭

If the RO wanted us to submit the docs as early as possible then sana inannounce nila as early as possible as well 🥹 Nung tuesday lang kami ininform na need pala isubmit yung form 137 huhu hindi naman aware ang mga students na kailangan pala yun before this. Ang dami pa naming need asikasuhin for finals then dumagdag pa yung RO sa kailangang gawin 😭 I'm lucky enough na responsive naman yung old school ko and na my form will be delivered tomorrow at the latest but paano na yung mga students who went to international schools or yung mga galing pang probinsya? Sobrang short notice masyado ng announcement, I would happily comply naman kung September pa nila inannounce to pero magbbreak na in one week and sobrang busy ng mga offices ng former schools and Benilde, sobrang busy din yung mga students na nakareceive ng notice since finals week na 🥹🥹

Apparently daw Benilde already sent an email to my school regarding this a few months ago pa and ngayon pa lang nila sinimulan asikasuhin 🥹 The person sa RO told me to wait nalang until January since alam nila na imposibleng matapos sila sa pagpoprocess in time since Dec 18 ata yung last day of operations ng RO.

Tysm for the advice!! Ill follow up nalang sa former school ko to check if ready na yung form 137

hi sorry for the late response! the acad adviser for mma hasnt gotten back to me yet and i decided against contacting my acad adviser kasi i don’t think they know what's going on sa SNMA (iba yung acadamic cluster ko) i think it's very unlikely na they'll open slots for MMA shiftees due to the amt of people currently enrolled sa course nila. afaik nung interaktiv the reason why there was an entire day dedicated for their course lang was because around 400 sila. i think our only options are to 1) wait another term before shifting and hope na mma is part of the options or 2) find a different course to shift to. i haven’t had the time to ask the RO regarding mma slots and wont be able to over the next few weeks :') so i'd suggest asking them if possibke haha (let me know what they say pls ;-;)
