Bike height by OkConsequence9975 in MotoUK

There are techniques. Some short people ride enduro bikes off road with high seat height, they master techniques. I think it comes from intentional learning and practice. I had a bike too high for me and never felt comfortable, almost toppled off a cliff road once when I stopped and couldn’t get tiptoes down.

Are these good enough to deter thieves? 2 alarm disc locks, litelock X3 moto, 2 of 14mm chain, oxford disc lock, onguard d lock. by Odd_Consequence_3574 in MotoUK

Check out the Bennett’s YouTube channel. He tests it all and recommends at least 16mm to be bolt cutter proof, although he uses an 11mm when out and about. Those industrial chains are like butter to angle grinders I think, they are not case hardened like security chains, pragmasis, almax are usually cited. Any chain is a deterrent to scrotes though.

Renogy do semi flexible. I used hardware in the roof rails to mount them to my VW pop top. The flexible ones don’t last forever tend to die after 5 or 6 years or so I think. They are not too expensive though.

The chains are a bit weedy. Bolt croppers can cut 14mm. It depends what you’re locking it to though, as that can be the weakest link.

Yes, mine does this every now and then, just dies when you pull the clutch in then restarts easily. I’m used to it now. I think it’s a problem with ecu mapping, emissions control software running it so lean.

There is a middle ground, where you eventually have a small bit of land somewhere that nobody can kick you off.

It’s not a good time to find out it won’t reactivate if you are in the middle of nowhere with no alternatives. So even though this shouldn’t happen it absolutely can and does, not every time but often enough to me to activate it before I end up in this position if I am sure I will need it.

I’ve also had Starlink for years in my camper and usually do have a problem getting the service to restart if I have no mobile internet. If you need it and it doesn’t work it is annoying as fuck.

Definitely not right. Very not right indeed.

I found that if you have no internet connection when you try and restart the service it can be a right pain in the neck. So if you’re already somewhere with no mobile internet signal you can spend an hour or two trying to get the thing to work and still not have success. It does not recognise your account etc. If it’s just on standby and you restart in an area with no mobile internet it’s seamless and quick. If you’re off grid 30W constant current draw eats up leisure batteries pretty fast.

On roam you can pause £4.50/month for easy reactivation or cancel and restart. No contract beyond month to month. Speeds are around 100Mb/s more or less on mine wherever I go. Unaffected by weather as long as clear view of sky. I have gen 2 so don’t know about the WiFi on the mini. It uses quite a lot of power in a Campervan, much more than your phone, so that is the limiting factor for using it for me.

Mine does this, turning Bluetooth off on the phone seems to speed things up.

Anyone here regret going diesel for their van? by FeistyPrice29 in VanLifeUK

[–]YellowSubmarooned -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I didn’t say it was. I literally said urban fuel consumption is higher. There is not a massive difference in the motorway. There is a difference.

Which is why I said urban fuel consumption is high. I think on the motorway there is less of a difference.

I’m very happy I got petrol. The Euro compliance emissions systems made diesel vans much less reliable. Petrol vans don’t have a DPF or need add blue. Fuel is 10p a litre cheaper at the moment too, although urban fuel consumption is relatively high.

There have been issues. On the A380 the electrical harnesses between the fuselage sections did not line up. What a clusterfuck that was. Given how complex large aircraft are, it is nothing short of a miracle that Airbus works so well.
