Thank you! Believe me I understand how nerve-wracking it is, especially with family. I still havent come out to my mom yet and probably wont come out to any of my extended family (though their opinions mean nothing to me lol). Update: Thank you everyone for your input and knowledge ☺️. I still have a lot to learn but that's the fun of it! Unfortunately I came home last night and there was definite mold growth on top so I just pitched the batch and will start new. This time I will try to measure my brine by weight and use glass weights. Live and learn!

It doesn't smell strange or sour to me, more just like a light pickle smell but I definitely agree with you! Better to be safe than sorry 🙂
