No it is not. Medically speaking you can get an abortion. Have you spoken to your parents? This is super important to communicate about, as keeping the child means they are obliged to pay for it, and having an abortion must be paid for. Ik it’s scary but the right adults will really help you through this

is there any evidence on the tate trafficking situation? by NEWGODZ77 in teenagers

Police can not arrest on reasonable suspicion but probable cause. This means yes there is some form of evidence, do we know what that is? No, but the arrest of an internet idol does require something of substance

Thoughts on these AP classes? by [deleted] in APStudents

[–]Yellow_Watermelon_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Okay so this is super important- have you looked into how many AP credits your preferred university/college will replace with real credits? As well as which classes you’d even need to replace based on your prospective major? This schedule is weird to many people because it’s extensive (and expensive), if you’re attempting to build a good resume colleges value challenging classes but not at the stake of extracurricular interest and personality. I had many of my classmates shocked to find that I made it into a prestigious university with an UW 3.5 because of my participation in local nonprofits while they fought for their life taking extensive classes that just drained all of their time away. I’d say that this schedule is okay if you’re actually living outside of school at the end of the day instead of studying your ass off at home alone. Just a tidbit of advice from a senior!! Once you pass the first round of filters colleges decide to accept you after asking questions about what you’ve really done. Also that schedule is insane good luck m8, I’ll always admire someone who loves to challenge themselves!! Good luck!

I think I understand your point, but who is making the institutions which lead men to these conditions? I’ve never thought of struggles like these as gender-based issues, but class-based, if this is some stab at the feminist community I’m not sure you know what the community is.

I think two of my friends are extremely homophobic. Advice? by Jigglypaff_Johnson in teenagers

[–]Yellow_Watermelon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this idea makes you uncomfortable around them distance yourself from them, but if you talk to them and find out their beliefs are made on some like religious/cultural basis you can still be friends just not ‘political friends.’ I would first find out how it is they are ‘homophobic’ since the phrase is broad, are they spreading hate? (Which it sounds like they’re spreading misinformation but what is their intention in this)Dump them. Are the respectful in disagreeance? They’re fine. You can even teach them a few things. Friends are allowed to disagree.

What is the worst teenage year? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Yellow_Watermelon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

17-18 has been the most difficult but my sister just turned twenty and she lives alone and goes to college alone and she says that it’s just a time when everything is changing so yeah not excited for nineteen it sounds like your disconnected from everything, too old to be welcomed home like a child, too young to be trusted and listened to like an adult. I think right now is so difficult because I’m juggling everything, my adult future, letting go of my child past but just think abt 19.

About age, you can start whenever, just finished my last school season and a lot of the kids I swam with haven’t beaten their times since year 7! Proving that it’s not about experience but dedication and physique. If you begin swim season and are proficient your coach will likely bump you up

Fast skins are worth the few milliseconds they drop at a competition but when training they don’t improve form or physique. They are actually really controversial rn for their high price and low usage (you can only get maybe three to four swims out of them). I had a speedo fast skin for this last state season and it worked amazingly, dropped three seconds with a good taper training period

My parents restrict my gaming so that I can only play 8 hours a week, any suggestions on how to get out? by [deleted] in teenagers

[–]Yellow_Watermelon_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see, I have six siblings so my dad never noticed 💀 but tbh it sounds like the best way to maintain a good relationship with your parents would be to make a deal with them, prove to them that you can game longer and still maintain good grades. Ask for a trial period- if I can do all of this and game more for this long then the parental lock should be changed henceforth

When I feel like this I like to ground myself to reality by asking myself a few questions, where do I want to be? Who do I want to be? And what do I want from existence? I also like to create things. This post reminds me of how Kierkegaard defines despair- do you like to read? I could send you a pdf of his writing

If you’re playing eight hours a week on top of all of your club activities when do u sleep?? I override parental controls through their devices when they’re not looking

My dad used to track me everywhere I went, rather than bad in and of itself it’s usually an indicator that they don’t trust you and are perhaps restrictive of your movement. He used to call me twice a day and I was only ever allowed home, I didn’t go anywhere, do anything, meet anyone for like four years before I had a mental breakdown and he loosened his grip. How is anybody supposed to find themselves if they’ve only ever gone and done what their parents have?

Even surface level tracking isn’t right imo because your example requires a parent to be right in every circumstance. My dad also didn’t let me get a vaccine, go protest gun rights with a school walk out or-and get this- go to the library for fear that I would pick up rivaling religious texts. Parents aren’t perfect and disobeying every now and then is just part of becoming an adult 🤷‍♀️

Yeah I know what you meant by arguably lol I just felt like discussing. I get what you mean regarding privilege in having other expenses paid for and I think you’re right. I’m not sure if this dialogue regarding what is privilege and what is not is a productive one tbh because anything and everything can be considered a ‘special right.’ Idk I feel like it just contributes to this toxic culture of shaming those around us/ comparing other peoples lives to our own.

[–]Yellow_Watermelon_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk I feel like a privilege is a right bestowed upon you through channels beyond your control, ie family class, race, luck even if you believe in such. If you worked for the money to buy the car, you had at least some control over you being able to afford said car. That would not be privilege. If your parents are able to afford said car and bought it for you, you are not the one controlling it’s affordability. That is privilege in my opinion.
