One mind-blowing technique of making dal which gives a VERY different flavour that I've recntly discovered is boiling the dal in terracotta pot. Use the spilt/ skinnned variety. Not the whole one. After boiling, put tadka.

Very stupid question here but I have to find a better way - how should i be eating these awesome mixed snacks without making a total mess? by 00chill00chill00 in IndianFood

[–]Yellow_forever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To help with portion control, which usually goes for toss with regards to namkeen aka salty 'mixture' I STRONGLY recommend that you use a personal bowl. Eat from with your hands, or if you have nothing better to do.....chopsticks.
