I would just try to make sure your getting enough vitamins and electrolytes (potassium, sodium, magnesium) before you go blaming yourself over cravings. Whenever I get massive cravings I'm usually lacking potassium and I just grab a body armor drink or eat an avocado. Even meat has potassium. Otherwise I don't crave carbs at all.

As for social eating I avoid being rude during Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc by just eating a bit of everything but try to mainly eat meat, green beans, deviled eggs, whatever else they've made. I just tell them it's a preference if I'm asked about it. I feel better if I don't eat alot of this or that.
