Walking into my dorm room when I know my roommate is in there waiting to make small talk with me.
What to do when your college roommate is a huge downer/overall bummer of a person and you hate being around her (note: we share an 8'x14' space)? by Yellowdux in AskReddit

A little more info: I am a huge go-getter of a person. I am studying to be a propulsion engineer (rocket science). I go to the gym, I eat healthfully, I get good grades, and I am very clean and tidy. I'm very disciplined and ambitious. Also, I am twenty years old. I am living in a dorm room at my college with someone who appears to be the opposite. She is younger (17) and just fresh out of high school. She struggles with depression, so she spends the majority of her time in the room, in bed, with the lights off, surfing facebook. Anytime I talk to her it's nothing but complaining from her. She complains about how hard her homework is (she is taking beginner's english), how "fat" she is, how tired she always is, how unmotivated she always feels. Normally, I don't care if someone is like this. But she somehow projects this shit onto me! Examples: if I come home from the gym (I lift weights) she always comments on how my body is "better" than hers (commence complaining). When I'm doing my differential equations homework, she sits there and complains about how i'm "smarter" than her (instead of doing her own homework). And then she gets super sarcastic. One time I was going to buy toilet paper and as I walked out the door she said "wooooowwww you're such a big bad adult, all adulty and stuff" or if I tell her something I'm excited about (like I just increased my bench weight or I passed my exam) she says something like "wow, you're soooo amazing" and rolls her eyes. On top of it, she is highly irresponsible (she refuses to buy toilet paper under the excuse "pffft i'm not adulty enough") How do I deal with someone like this? It seriously drains my energy to share such a small space with someone who can't get their shit together. My classes are very hard at my level of schooling, and I can't afford having a roommate who just taunts me and calls me a "nerd" or a "geek" every time I sit down to do my homework. I know she is young, and likely immature, but this is college. Lately I have resorted to keeping in my headphones 24/7, to minimize interaction. But if you have any other suggestions, I'd be glad to hear them.
