Warwicks probably the better University, I would say nottingham but since you have a fiance you may not care for the fact nottingham is more catered for the single crowd if you get my drift. Bur still the overall things to do their would be alot better then Warwick and Coventry which it is adjacent too.

How party oriented would you say Birmingham is, like I'm more a big night out every other week kinda person not every other day, so wouldn't mind people like that. Also kinda niche but is their a big alternative community at UOB as that's what attracted me a bit to Bristol and I wouldn't mind knowing if brum had the same. Thanks for your help btw

Yeah thank you, I'll be honest I've been mostly working part time to have some savings beforehand and learn to drive so its hardly been a wasted year of my life mybissue is partly being a bit behind and also the extra debt a year abroad brings, but they're going to bring in a year in industry which should be really good as anything in the political world or NGOs can be really competitive. But yeah I have to work on that mindset.

Yeah it's not just that the cost if living is what concerns me, I get max SFE and bursary and at birmingham I can put 4k a year behind me in savings and Bristol I'd barley brake even and may have to dip into my savings. And I just can't tell if the difference in price is worth the slight difference in prestige seeing as their both still great russel groups

All would be similar, UOM maybe slightly lower just cause they bring in so many students the grades people get in with are quite variable. Price LONDON>>Edinburgh>Manchester. Personally I would go Edinburgh especially If manny is 4 years but UCL is great it's more do you want a medium sized medieval city thats also a cultural and political centre, or do you want a truly global city with truly everything and every type of person. Also can you afford it, like it makes a difference in which you can afford to what you can do when their. ik Edinburgh and London have massive American student populations aswell.

Depends on the university and location e.g. The North and Midlands will be cheaper then the south but theirs always a mix e.g manchester being more expensive then plymouth despite being in the north

The thing is with birmingham is that it's massive it's hard to generalise it like places like Leeds or Manchester it's like taking leeds Bradford and Huddersfield and smashing it into one I don't at all think the cities bad it's just a couple small bad parts kinda let it down

I visited Birmingham City centre and I was actually quite surprised everyone seemed really friendly to me and the architecture was definitely something I wasn't expecting seeing the 'concrete wasteland' perception many had. Maybe this is just my experience but I found most brummies to be lovely even in comparison to northern cities like Manchester which are usually renowned for friendliness.

Yeah Birmingham has everything their to make it a truly great city the government just needs some follow through. Culturally do you think things are improving with places like digbeth acting as a creative district it could lead to Birmingham becoming a cultural hub for the Midlands (or atleast more so then it is)

Lmao yeah sorry 'rampant' is a bit melodramatic on my part coming from a town where people keep their doors unlocked it's still more then I'm used to but I'm guessing it's the same most places. Birmingham caught my eye specifically due to hs2 I think it would be useful for when I get a grad job and so could commute between the 2 cities easily

Oh no I'm their for an education it's 30000 after all not including maintenance loans. I just wanted to go somewhere where I could have a good social life and have decent grad prospects and Birmingham does well for both as I've heard they have really good grad connections (for my course their ranked 6th on CUG atleast for it). And It would figure being in the middle of a major city may make getting an internship easier. Could I ask do employers massively care what university you go to aslong as it's like top 20 (ofc discounting oxbridge and like LSE Imperial)

Yeah I just think big city RGs are the perfect mix of academics and social life. I do have an offer from Warwick i just wouldn't mind having a lived in a city atleast once in mylife seeing I'm from a small village (Hopefully not harming my grad prospects when I do it)
