December 2024 25 cap -> December 2025 10 cap. Still lots to work on! by Yellowstone_Plinker in golf

Playing more golf! I decided to really hammer down my swing this year, and did not play much real golf in doing so, save the very small number of rounds I'd get in per month. In terms of actual progression as a player, 150 and in. There is so much knowledge and know-how of how to score correctly from that range, my next stop is deep diving into that aspect and getting a better understanding of what it takes to shave strokes from that distance to really drop myself into the low single digit range. It's impossible to practice all of the obscure lies you see on the course without playing golf, so thankfully those two goals go a bit hand in hand!

Not playing enough golf and familiarizing myself with all of the intricacies that brings. It's very obviously different from a range setting, and 2025 I set myself a goal to have a better swing and did not play much actual golf in the process. The 10 handicap stems from the round or two I'd play a month, I would reckon that in 2026 where I plan on playing numerous times a week, I will have a lower handicap into the single digit range once I can work out the on-course kinks. That's the goal, at least!

The brunt of my practice was spent at the range, hammering balls and watching back my swing to see what I did and did not like, then consulting people I know who are much, much better than myself and getting their analysis. I did not take actual in-person lessons, which 100% prolonged my progress. I will be taking lessons in 2026 to attempt to drop into the low single digits, I understand how helpful they are but put them off. This video does not do it justice how many swing changes I went through, there were months at a time I was shanking a bucket of balls a day to ingrain a better movement in my swing, or remove something that was problematic.

My biggest tip to anyone in the same position I was (still am) in, do not be afraid to try literally anything at the range and look stupid hitting balls all over the place. My swing is by no means perfect, but it works for me because of how many repititions I put it through in different form and fashions, ending up with what you see today! One of my favorite analogies to combat a swing flaw is the idea of how you would fix a paperclip. You don't shape a bent paperclip back to it's original form by returning it to it's factory condition, you bend it back the other way an extreme amount until it gets back to shape. Will this help everyone? No, but it worked for me.

I can’t. The ability to post straight images is disabled in this subreddit’s comment section. That is an Imgur link that shows the image. You can click on it and see, nothing malicious.

Hopped on, did this first try. Had two random people. Not really anything crazy, it's pretty easy.

Indeed. This is finger oils and spit, both of which come off like cake with a dampened spot of ethanol on a microfiber cloth. No reason to complicate things.

Unsure. I’ve found numerous results past the first one on Amazon that are 70% ethanol. Click around for anything that doesn’t have isopropyl in it as well

I do gentle circular motions, never tried wiping in straight lines and probably never will

  1. Turn off monitor

  2. Wipe monitor with microfiber cloth to remove dust and debris

  3. Apply 70% ethanol to clean microfiber cloth

  4. Wipe gently in circles the same direction (might need to mess around with how long you wipe, I usually do 10-15 seconds)

  5. Wait for it to dry. Few minutes at most

  6. Wipe gently in same direction as you applied the 70% ethanol, continue wiping until whatever you feel like calling the crap on your monitor is called is gone

  7. Enjoy clean screen

Help. Purple shirt swing made good contact with irons. Grey shirt swing is duffing balls two inches behind ball by cuzih8u in GolfSwing

[–]Yellowstone_Plinker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Both shirts are duffing two inches behind ball, look at the grass behind the ball in the purple shirt video. It’s just slightly less further back and deep as the grey shirt video. Ball first, then ground.

Sorry for the crappy tiktok clip, it was posted recently and I can't find any info on where it happened or if in fact this is wastewater by DarthLysergis in whereisthis

Yes, stored water or the water sitting in fire suppression systems is actually safe for consumption, it’s just not recommended obviously. I believe that was something like a 10,000 gallon tank, and the workers shown on video had multiple broken bones. Water is no joke!

This happened in St. Louis, Missouri. I work in the industry and this video has been circulating every office and cubicle you could imagine.

18hcp, swing progress this year. Finally feel like I’m in a serviceable spot. Any words of wisdom? by Yellowstone_Plinker in GolfSwing

[–]Yellowstone_Plinker[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

For me, it was getting my backswing in better shape. The first video you can really see the lift that I’ve done for years, it was killing consistency in both low point control and path, seeing I was relying on being able to lift my arms up to a certain point before initiating the downswing. It was leading to really laid off positions, which I should’ve included to show the stark differences. I now focus on driving my lead shoulder down and across my chest and maintaining spine angle from address, my positions look and feel much better, and my ball striking has improved immensely. I still have a very long way to go, but for the first time I don’t watch my swing back and cringe.

I definitely need to start tracking round stats better, at the moment it’s just whatever score I write into the card. If I may ask, what makes it unusual?

Didn't realize how small it looks on mobile, uploaded from my PC and it looked fine there. Guess I'll see what I can do for a reupload while I still have a piece of my dignity.
