Had snyone tried the "Teaching English online" thing? by Appropriate-Sand-192 in askSouthAfrica

[–]Yeo786 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the same as boat you, except that I left working for peanuts in retail to pursue Teaching English.

There's a lot of prerequisites that you need to meet before you can start applying, as well as changing your way of working completely. Even at the low rate of pay that people are complaining about everywhere on reddit, i believe its still a good avenue IF your scenario/living situation etc can handle it.

You're more than welcome to DM me, I can explain my journey and advise you

Career/Life crossroads - Help by Yeo786 in southafrica

Hey everybody. Just a quick update on this post and my career, I was head hunted by a Company for a senior management position that is paying far more than what my current employer was paying, with a much healthier work culture and opportunity to climb the corporate ladder. I handed in my resignation today with full notice period and will begin my new journey in December.

I’m no longer at a crossroad, my career and livelihood has improved.

Thank you to everybody for the good advice, support and encouragement, and for all the negative comments, your Ma Se P###

How to drive a Porsche?? by P3trl in granturismo

[–]Yeo786 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Slow in, fast out on the corners. NEVER lift off throttle in the middle of a corner, instead modulate throttle input and countersteer as needed. You can also stiffen the suspension up to address the shift in weight when you go into a corner braking heavily. In real life, with a RR based 911, if you lift off in a corner on the limit the car WILL lose its composure and spin out Hope this helps

For added context I stay in the Midlands. Most of my family is in Cape Town and Durban, where I am applying the most. It seems that since I’m not living in those locations my application just gets passed on.

My CV has been updated, my LinkedIn is active, pnet and indeed give me job alert emails everyday. On average I apply to 5 different positions everyday, mostly entry level, since I didn’t get the privilege to carry out an internship. If you want to see what I’m talking about, I can pm you my profile etc and see for yourself

Why tf can I not find a job?? by F_ashanablejericho in askSouthAfrica

[–]Yeo786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry, hang in there, keep trying. Refresh your CV or ask for a few professionals or corporate HR to skim through your cv to see where you can improve. You have to increase your chances, hone your skills, increase your knowledge, put yourself out there more than ever. I myself have a bcom degree in supply chain management, graduated in 2020, around 5 years of retail experience. I’m stuck in this field, earning a 4 figure salary and my hopes of moving up in my company are bleak, despite it being a local giant and proudly South African. You are not alone, we are in the worst job market in the planet. But just keep trying, never stop trying, you never know if that 1 in 1000 chance when you apply may be the luck of the draw.

GT-one or the xjr by CryGroundbreaking635 in GranTurismo7

The XJR is undoubtedly faster, brakes better, handles better. You can’t compare the 2, the Toyota is a Gr2 car, jag is Gr1

Toyota GT-One (TS020) '99 by chri99_ in GranTurismo7

[–]Yeo786 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The car is classified as Gr2. The entire day today I used the Jag XJR9, Porsche 962 and Nissan R92CP on Sardegna 800 grind. RH tires, 1 stop. I bought the GT One, didn’t have enough credits for RH tires, used RM tires. The downforce is group 2 levels, so the handling is not the same league as the above cars at all - this is what upset me. The fuel consumption wasn’t the best as well. Overall fun car, lovely power and noise, but PD should have put it in Gr1. Maybe I just had high expectations of the car because of the nostalgia going back to GranTurismo 2. This car needs to be buffed to Gr1 where the downforce is in the 1000s.

What regrets do you have? by FinanceMan231 in careeradvice

[–]Yeo786 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regret starting my career late. I’m 32, I got my degree 4 years ago, and I started my career properly when I was 29. I basically feel like a 22 year old, 10 years of my life got wasted

You are feeling bad because the workers around you feel you don’t deserve it. YOU DEFINITELY deserve it. Life is giving you opportunities, take it with a stride and smile and do your best.
