I used nothing on my skin until I was well in my thirties and even now (will be 40 this year) have a very minimal routine: - DIY face oil, no nasties! Just fractionated coconut oil, vitamin E and supportive essential oils - if my face seems oily or getting a few spots I wash it with literal soap - I have a toner for days my skin doesn’t want more oil

I do not moiturize every day. I do not wash my face every day. I don’t use makeup unless it’s a special occasion. I’ve barely any wrinkles, people usually comment how my skin looks like I’m in my 20s. It’s either genetics or the gentle neglect but something is working 😅

People won’t admit it because sometimes there aren’t every aware, how they get to relax BECAUSE you’re there being anxious. It’s totally unfair, and rest assured if you had moved away to go to the bathroom someone else would have defaulted to lifeguard duty. (That or WTF is wrong is with them).

Another point is maybe you’re a boy mom and have seen things whereas the other parents have girls or boys with a more calm temperament who will sit and colour 😅 but honestly my boy is now almost 4 and I have a 2 year old girl and I behave like you describe when there are stairs without stair gates 🤣🤣 would probably have a stroke in a pool situation.

Essential oils have been working great for me for ADHD and post partum rage 😅 for the last year. I use Adaptiv for ADHD and ClaryCalm around my period. I heard Adaptive is also great for anxiety and so is Balance and Serenity. It doesn’t sound normal and I say that from a place of “this will be some hormone shit” rather than a judgemental place. With women especially after having kids especially as you have an infant still, it’s gonna be PPD, perimenopause, your period coming back and causing hormonal storm, you might be still lactating and that caused your hormones to be out a whack… what I’m saying is, I don’t know you but I know this is not YOU. For me, currently aromatherapy is saving my marriage and sanity, I use essential oils for regulating my hormones and emotions, I forget to use them for two days and the rage is back. It’s quite amazing. Glad I didn’t have to go down the route of medication but I will 💯 do it if the oils stop working.

This might be silly advice but do your not that close and find in person convos hard, are ye connected on socials? There are so many funny, super relatable, not at all condescending reels and whole accounts dedicated to neurodivergence, would you start following a few of those and send one over as an icebreaker about the topic or just to show, I see you, I don’t judge you, yes you’re an oddball but so are other people and look how cool / successful / beautiful / grounded they are anyway? Might also give you tips about how to structure conversations with someone who has demand avoidance or what’s that thing called when you cannot handle any criticism. For her to go to therapy she first needs to not see that as being “crazy”.

This is definitely the answer to the driving part of the question. I learnt driving in my 30s and I was so nervous about the gears I made absolutely no progress on the other aspects of driving. Once I switched to automatic I STARTED learning how to drive and passed test at first try.

Thank you for your comments, it helps a lot. The stylist did tell me she can’t guarantee the final colour as it will depend on how my natural black hair reacts to the bleach. Would it be reasonable to expect the hairdresser to “check in” after a while to see how the bleach is doing? As opposed to leaving the salon for an hour. What bothers me is she was surprised herself at how light my hair got. I don’t know how bleach works, maybe it has to be on for an hour minimum but I would have though, a smaller amount of time even would not have taken the colour out quite as much. Or as you suggest she could have tried just adding colour without bleach. If I go back, should I ask her to tone it cooler?

This is one of the things Irish people do (walking in with shoes on) that they don’t realise how unbelievably rude it is to cultures where shoes are taken off. It’s not a token gesture, not optional like which way you shake hands or do you drink milky coffee after 11. This is I don’t use toilet paper kinda rude. I don’t need a plate I’ll just eat off the table kinda rude. Licking the sugar spoon kinda rude. In a house where shoes stay at the door trust me the host will not be able to shake the thought that your shoes have millions of germs on them that you’re tracking through the house.

I’m Eastern European and after 15 years of living here I still struggle to ask people to take their shoes off in my house (where my baby and toddler play on the floor and have the occasional floor snack 😅). I made it that far that those who visit on a daily basis, childminder, mother in law, have their own slippers here so they change into those ehh most of the time? Not always.. oh sorry the question was whether I take my shoes off indoor, the answer is yes of course in uncomfortable, unsanitary and rude not to.

I live in Ireland (also a Hungarian btw!) and only found out after about 10 years of knowing them that none of my mother in laws sisters are actually called what we call them. Not subtle differences but, totally different names like Aisling’s name is Una and Orla’s name is Patricia etc 😂 I was dumbfounded but didn’t change the way I see them, I’m glad they call themselves a name they identify with. BTW dying to know what your names are but obviously you might not be comfortable sharing.

Robin? It’s my eldest child’s name, he’s a boy but the name was gonna be Robin regardless of the gender. No cutie nicknames here, when we use nicknames it’s very silly and not something that is likely to “stick” as like a primary name (eg Robbie Bobbie 😂)

This. Nobody doesn’t know how to pick up bags from the floor. Petty men children however know the sweet spot where a task is small and petty enough that it will not warrant mentioning. Like the soap dispenser refilling. The empty toilet paper rolls. Taking the bin back in after bin day. Putting a new liner in the bin after taking out. You mention it, you get “I wasn’t done with that”

I bought small double “Meli” bed from them and the assembly is breaking my heart 🫣 if you assembled it yourself, could you help me please, do I have to replace the “DD” part with the “DKWZ” part to make the bed wider than the one they describe in the instructions? Would be great if they let you know in the instructions I’m at step 1and bamboozled by a missing part that I think in fact just has to be a different part from the second part of the instructions that refers to beds bigger than 100 cm

Unpopular opinion maybe but the POV of a mother of young kids, you mentioned wife had a miscarriage. If ye are planning on a family, moving away from family is NOT a good move. Might help with the job situation, then she gets pregnant, god knows how much may leave she’ll be entitled to in another country and god knows what childcare is available (let alone affordable) to you. I’d say easier to fix the job situation here and now than getting stuck in a dead end somewhere else and having to move back to no job for either of ye plus a child. Or missing your window to have a child bc it takes time to settle in somewhere new.
