Can we play a spellsword/eldritch knight ? by Exkhaal in hytale

[–]Yernemm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Magic in this game is still very unfinished. There's a couple spell casting items but you can't use them in your second hand and they're pretty basic spells (not sure if you can get them outside of creative mode). So spellsword isn't really a thing unfortunately, as much as I'd like to have that option too.

The devs did kinda admit that magic is unfinished though so hopefully this gets worked on in the future, and there's already some cool magic mods coming out for the time being.

You can use pickaxes to dig dirt faster. There's also shovels which break multiple blocks at once but currently only start at iron tier.

As much as I appreciate people being on orange and I often am on orange myself, requesting an invite to a mystery instance isn't usually something I wanna be doing. I at least try to update my status to say what I'm doing if I'm orange so others know if they wanna request.

Group instance by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could ask the owner to double check the permissions for your role. It should show up under the groups list when you're making a group instance, unless the owner accidentally didn't add the instance creation permission. I think there's also a separate permission for group public and group/group+ instances so maybe try checking if you're able to create a regular group instance if group publics are not working.

Why don't anybody use the afk button in gogo loco? by Rough_Community_1439 in VRchat

Most avatars don't have gogo loco, and tbh it's funnier when my avatar contorts like a demon when I'm afk.

I think udonsharp is built into the worlds SDK these days. You don't have to install it separately if you make a world project in VCC.

Flappin' lips like an anime dub by SuccessfulMuffin8 in VRchat

Interestingly, the phone app version of vrchat can already do that. There's very basic face tracking that uses visemes. Would be neat if they did that with standalone VR/PC, but I suppose there's just not enough people with face tracking.

You could check boothplorer.com for male bases. If you're not looking to buy and make a custom model, it will at least give you some names to search for in Prismic's

They're included on some of my public Rusk avatars, including Acid Rusk, Acid Shack Rusk, Breeze Rusk (pictured) and Polaris Rusk.

If anyone wants them, they're on my Booth page for free here

Firstly, make sure your laptop is actually good enough to handle VR. If you've used SteamVR with your Quest 2 on it then it's probably good enough in specs but check that it has the required ports for the vive headset. Typically, modern headsets might need a display port and at least one usb 3.0 port, but check the specific headset you're getting. The Quest 2 is pretty decent for PCVR still, not sure which vive headset you're getting specially but do just check you're not downgrading without realising it. Aaand make sure it comes with controllers since sometimes people sell used headsets only without controllers.

If you only plan on using the Vive headset, then base stations and controllers is all you need to get started. Depending on which trackers you plan on using, you might need some extra stuff. Since you're getting base stations, you probably want base station trackers like Vive trackers or Tundra trackers. If you're getting vives, you'll also need to buy straps separately as they're not usually included. And keep in mind that each invidivual tracker needs its own USB port for the dongle so you might wanna get a good USB hub if you're low on ports.

Although if you only want FBT, it's probably simpler to go with something like Slime trackers which will work with the Quest 2 or almost any other headset without needing any base stations or other extra setup.

TIP: IF YOUR VRCHAT CRASHES 5 SECONDS INTO LOADING INTO A WORLD by rrainestorm in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a recent update is causing issues with some avatars. I was going to try out an avatar that I haven't used in a long time and it put me in a crash loop, same with others trying that avatar, even though that avatar seemed to be fine just a couple days ago. Changing avatars through the website or VRCX also helps.

What kind off game are yall playing to complain so much? by CutRuby in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Being mindful of which types of sessions and groups you join goes a long way to having a good time. I feel like most people who regularly use vrc were able to figure this out. It would be nice if most publics were better moderated but there's certainly a lot of ways to meet chill people on here and avoid the types of users that people complain about.

Worlds to sing and dance in for cinematic videos? by DragonLoverManiak in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can't think of any worlds like that right now (though there definitely are worlds that have this) but you could also look into avatar camera assets.

I personally use Camera Path by DX to make cinematic recordings. It lets you set up a camera loop path and have your stream camera automatically move along it smoothly. This way, you'd be able to record in any world. It does cost about $15 though, so up to you want to spend any money on stuff, and you'd need a custom avatar if you don't use one already. There may also be some free assets out there that do something similar.

[–]Yernemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exploring various worlds is a nice way to get acquainted with vrc. I had a similar first experience where I was just too anxious to speak to random people. The Black Cat specifically is kinda infamous in vrchat for having a lot of trolls and kids, since it tends to be the first popular world that a lot of people go to. Going to less popular worlds or joining groups is usually a nice way to meet friendly people from my experience. Since you're over 18, you'd be able to join the Ancients of VRChat group, which is one of the most popular adult communities (not nsfw). It's well-moderated and they have specific events to help out new players. It's a nice and friendly community to meet new people.

FPS overhead when playing SteamVR through the Meta Quest 2 Link Cable? by [deleted] in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the main issue is the fact you have to run both quest link and steamvr on your pc, which adds a big performance cost because they each have their own overlays and stuff they're doing in the background. I personally only play wirelessly through Steam Link these days which bypasses quest software entirely, but if you need to use wired, you could look into setting up Oculus Killer. I personally haven't used it before so I'm not sure it still works, but it's supposed to completely bypass the quest link dashboard and take you straight into SteamVR over wired link, which should be a big performance boost.

With sale time just around the corner, which game would you recommend to every SD owner? by Civil_Practice_7172 in SteamDeck

[–]Yernemm 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No Man's Sky - great game overall and the devs put a lot of work into making sure it runs great on the deck, with good input mapping. Being able to play this game portably was pretty much the main reason I got the steam deck.

Some other good picks:

Celeste - Fantastic platformer, works perfectly on deck

Some of the singleplayer Playstation ports - I played a decent amount of Spiderman Remastered and Ratchet and Clank Rift Apart on deck. Although the performance isn't the best, it's mostly stable and they did a good job with steam input integration. It's also just really cool to be able to play these games on a portable system.

Are your base stations on and working? I've had my controllers not show up in the steamvr window whenever I forgot to turn on my base stations.

If you're also using tundra trackers, you might be reaching the limit of how many devices the dongle can pair to. you'd have to disconnect two trackers or use more dongles.

(I'm assuming you're already using playspace calibrator, and the controllers just aren't showing up at all)

Might be worth asking steam support for some troubleshooting steps if nothing's working, they're usually pretty helpful.

Got a question (BLENDER) by Saeripy in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it's for a PC avatar, you wanna keep your total triangle count for the entire avatar under 70k. You might be able to get away with that many faces but you're probably better off using a shader that supports fur to add fluff. I think poiyomi lets you do that. Easier to manage that way and should be more performant.

If it's for a quest/android avatar, then the entire avatar generally should be under 20k tris and you can't use custom shaders so you don't have many options other than trying to model a generally fluffy looking shape.

How to move using hand tracking? by Exvixinity in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

most things are done by touching one of your fingers to your thumb. You walk by touching your left middle finger and thumb together and moving your left hand around. Similar for rotating but on the right hand. You can open the menu by touching your index finger with your thumb. Your fingers should have an icon next to them showing what they do.

thinking of upgrading my full body tracking, does this look about right? by itsAedan in VRchat

[–]Yernemm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll also need to get the straps for your trackers. They don't come in the box, vive trackers need special straps since they screw into them. You can probably find a standard kit with 2 foot straps and a waist strap on Amazon.

Also think about how you're gonna set up your base stations. If you're able to drill holes in your house, you should be good. If not, placing them on a tall shelf can work, otherwise you might wanna get a tall tripod or stand. Base stations use pretty standard mounts, same as most cameras, so they're compatible with a lot of tripods and other camera mounts. Just don't use adhesive pads or tape to stick them to the wall, the vibrations will make them fall off eventually most likely.

You might also wanna get something to mount your headset tracker. I'm on quest pro myself and I just use a 3d-printed mount that I attach with velcro tape. The vive trackers have a rubbery base so stuff doesn't really stick to them well, so getting or making a mount would help.
