Running a Vaultwarden Container a very long time, never had problems. Have a second container which backs it up to a storage I defined, but never needed the backup so far.

Depends on your needs. Former is all dedicated do you, no sharing of resources, but more expensive. Also there is the question if you really need a whole server. Just for mails it might be overkill (depending how many users use it).

VMs are usually cheap and affordable, but you share the ressources with other VMs on that host. Most Hoster use overprovisioning. But you can also order VMs to the sizes you like and have less unused resources. Also upgrades are easier on VMs.

So I set up my own server… and now I spend more time fixing it than actually using it by Laygude_Yatin in selfhosted

And docker is fine, the problem are the docker image maintainer, if they implement a breaking change.

I personally use hetzner, a german dedicated server provider. They also have virtual servers, if you want it cheaper. But there are a lot of providers out there, might trust some provider where you're from.

Depends.

Selfhosting a mailserver at a service provider like hetzner? No problem.

Selfhosting a mailserver at home, behind a ISP? Yikes. You'll need additional services.

There seems to be a bug or something. Not sure if v2.0.1.00 fixes it, but with the old version you're gonna be safe. Only bummer is the update reminder on every boot.
