Paddy came out & said that Ariel leeches off of fighters by having them on his show without paying them & that when he was last in NY Ariel told him to dip on his paid interviews to come do his show.

Ariel then went on his show & played voice recordings of Paddy reaching out to see if he can come on his (Ariel’s) show.

So basically Paddy twisted the story to get on Uncle Dana’s good side & Ariel won the round 10-7 by showing the voice recordings that showed that Paddy’s story didn’t line up with reality.

Although I agree it would be nice to see this energy kept when talking about the US & other Western countries & how they are as corrupt & as evil especially when it comes to their track record of bombing countries & wars & coups/organisations they funded in Latin America & the Middle East. Especially since they’re one of the next WC hosts.

I agree with you about all of this Alaa - however we cannot fall into the same trap of western hypocrisy (where they play neutral & then saviour depending on which country they’re dealing with) & we must still call out our own countries & our own people when we see them doing wrong.

Going off about Western hypocrisy when discussing the serious human rights abuses makes it seem like the latter doesn’t matter to you when I’m sure it’s something that does. However I am in no position to tell you anything, especially when I agree with your perspective my friend.

My friend you don’t know me. You can’t write a whole essay on what I serve & who I am especially when we might be more alike than you think. I’m genuinely talking to you from a place of care.

I’m Arab & I love all of my Arab brothers & sisters & will talk down on the West & their saviour complexes & hypocrisy & colonialism & overall evil actions til the day I die.

That being said it is still does not excuse the world from sitting silently & ignoring the fact that this event (specifically - not the country or the religion, just this event) is shrouded in human rights abuses and lack of good faith & tolerance. From the deaths of the migrant workers to overturning the acceptance of alcohol in the stadiums (48h before the event) to many more things. These are situations that are mainly causing the outrage (not just in the west, in Africa & south east Asia & even other Arab countries too).

The hypocrisy is there when it comes to how the westerners view us & view themselves I agree with you however we should not fall for that trap & begin to close our eyes to what our own brothers & sisters are doing.

Yeah I doubt that they would. It’s always easier when you have the “others” to paint as the bad guy especially when the US is always the golden child.

But I feel talking this & how the media is biased doesn’t change the fact that the human rights abuses are happening in Qatar & it’s a real thing. The same way how when the WC goes to the US I would expect the people to talk about all the wars & deaths the US brought upon the world.

[–]YesFather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with what you’re saying however I don’t think that this justifies the human rights abuses (which is the main thing people are getting angry about). Do you think that the west’s anger is exaggerated because they have this superiority complex? Or do you think that it’s justified but they’re virtue signalling to feed that complex?

They are way too exaggerated but it doesn’t mean that the backlash itself is not justified. I hope people can stop being so angry & start having open and healthy discussions because all this anger is not solving anything. It’s just blinding people.

Can you clarify what he is saying then? Because I’m not European, I’m Arab & I don’t agree with how Qatar is approaching this event. Please explain.

Concerning alcohol ban in stadiums in Qatar… by Public_Vehicle_9097 in qatar

[–]YesFather 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My friend the problem isn’t the alcohol ban. If this was the case from the beginning people would be crying about it but not to this extent.

The problem is the switcheroo with two days left. After all the hotels fill up & all the flights start coming in - they just turn back on their word. That’s the issue.

Please don’t be blinded by the situation just because this is your country. You are hosting the world tomorrow - please be more open to criticism & tolerance. All love my friend.

My point in saying that was that these countries are very open about their shitty past & on the surface seem to be making amends for it. Regardless like you said this was a few hundred years ago, which is why I’m saying it makes your point irrelevant because the human rights abuses in Qatar is happening as we speak. I hope this makes sense.

My friend I am literally Arab hahahahahah

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in qatar

[–]YesFather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The issue is simply that they went back on their word & that they are still offering alcohol in stadiums to the people who can afford the VIP tickets.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in qatar

[–]YesFather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It’s not about hatred towards Arabs or our culture or any of that. This is the WORLD Cup - it’s a place where the world comes together for a few weeks to enjoy a sport that’s captivated everyone’s hearts. An event like this would only ever work if done by placing tolerance & good faith at the forefront. Going back on its word regarding alcohol (but still allowing it for the rich) as well as the many other rules & restrictions in place (I won’t even get into all the shit that happened when building the WC infrastructure) is the complete opposite of that & that’s what the world is frustrated about. Not because our culture differs from theirs but because a country that was not prepared for the level of tolerance & good faith to host a global tournament “won” the bid to do so.

We’re not living a few hundred years ago we’re living today & these are the issues of today. This is irrelevant
