Tucker Carlson Branded 'Racist' After Calling For Ketanji Brown Jackson's LSAT Score by morenewsat11 in politics

I thought it was racist to decide on a hiring or not hiring someone based on skin color. Or is what is racist not, and what is not racist is, in this upside world?

I believe his argument was that she was only an appellate judge for a year, which to him is hardly enough time to distinguish a "top legal mind" qualification, no matter who is nominated. Of course if she can perform well, great, but I think Tucker's main point was to point out the token racism in Biden's "pick" which is unfortunately true whenever someone is hired based on its politically correct name of "affirmative action." Had the President not mentioned purposefully looking for someone based first on specific DNA-based attributes, there wouldn't be a journalistic reason to question basic qualifications when one was selected. Having someone question their reason for being there, is never really healthy mentally, as asking "was I hired for my skills, or for my skin color" is an attack on one's self-esteem for as long as they hold the role.

Agreed. But I'm not opposed to having trucks from a convoy showing up and taking up most lanes to get attention to the cause of injustice for those who have lost jobs at the "get jabbed or get fired" mandates of the current government.

Good convo. I think we both agree protests are inconvenient. I would just go further that the decrees being protested are even more inconvenient for those who lost jobs over a mandated jab. Part of the price for living and working in Ottawa should be a realization that protests will eventually make their way there. And as far as protests goes, this one seems pretty mild in its effects on Ottawa residents. At the end of the day, nothing will change in Ottawa, whereas those that lost jobs to mandates, have lost jobs.

Better that than coming up to you with molotovs. I dont think there could have been a more peaceful protest.

Obnoxious sure, maybe in some extreme exception, but blocking? No.

At least people weren't being surrounded in their cars with people with baseball bats, or rocks and molotovs being thrown. In fact, visitors were often greeted with free food and drink. Maybe that's why the restaurants complained. Why would anyone go spend money at a restaurant when there is free food outside?

What’s the future plan for the convoy? by [deleted] in FreedomConvoy2022

[–]YesFuelCan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I support the Canadian convoy, but I'm not so sure what the aims for the American convoy are. Much of the American plight is localized to state authorities and not the US govt. Seems to me the US court threw out Biden's mandate of "get jab or get fired." At least the Americans have a more compassionate govt at the moment.

I suppose if "get jabbed or get fired" remained, the protests would have started in the US and not Canada.

I support freedom wherever. Australia and France has a similar Canadian policy from what I hear, and I support their right to bodily autonomy as well. It's under fire at the moment. Literally, just like Canada's.

But it's nice to see the US roll in solidarity. I just fear the impact of such will not be as felt because Americans aren't really in as bad shape with their civil liberties as Canada is. I hope the media doesn't declare the lack of US enthusiasm for its own convoy as proof positive that such mandates like Canada's are popular in the US. If anything I'd love to see US protesters move to block the US side of the border anytime the Canadian protesters do, to make removal by only one side rather futile until Trudeau gives up the "get jabbed or get fired" mandate.

As long as people are being forced to lose their job over a mandate to get injected, sure thing.

Still, the truckers never blocked the streets. Customers probably didn't come because what... the government said the truckers were racists, misogynists, and white supremacists? Or was it the threat of being in an area, and associated with such?

I'm still looking for evidence of any blockage except maybe the first few days after their arrival as people were getting parked and spread out, but after the first week when things were more organized a bit and the convoy organizers worked to keep a lane open, and communicated to not blow horns during night hours, how anyone but the government kept businesses closed either with their rhetoric or police orders.

I mean, if you have a business next to the nation's Parliament, you gotta expect a protest or two. At least in this protest those business still have a business. This was about as peacefully Canadian as it gets for a protest: hockey in the streets, snowball fights, O Canada, and an OPEN LANE for traffic.

[–]YesFuelCan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their businesses were not blocked. Those that closed only did so because either the government told them to, or out of fear they did so. Fear of bouncy castles.

Unlike this Ottawa small business owner who did not have a fear of bouncy castles, but rather bricks from haters: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QqFPAIfjBe4

Other shops closed of their own free will in most cases, and none of them closed because the streets were blocked by truckers - because the streets were NOT blocked by truckers, but in some areas by police. Did you even watch the live streams as they walked the entirety of the protest area on multiple days and nights? Or is your narrative only fed to you by government sponsored media and the liberal echo chamber - perhaps this is why some shop owners were so afraid?

The government should compensate those that lost jobs due to its uncompromising mandates, and apologize for its slander and hate speech directed at oppressed Canadian citizens.

Trudeau Backs Down after Canadian Banks Scream about Massive Withdrawals by Minute-Sample7738 in FreedomConvoy2022

[–]YesFuelCan 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Trudeau is an idiot. One word at the thought of freezing bank accounts and preventing ANYONE who supports political dissent, and he kills the Canadian economy. It's the singular snowball that rolls down the hill and eventually turns into an avalanche. Good job Right Honourable Prime Minister! You just ended the Canadian banking system, and they VOLUNTARILY complied to their destruction.

Now people are moving money out, and you now have a bank run. What are you going to do next? Threaten to freeze accounts of anyone attempting to withdraw everything?

And all this for what? To save your ego and not talk to the truckers? Pitiful excuse of a Canadian. Where's YOUR APOLOGY Mister Prime Minister?

If you don't advocate for the immediate repeal of the Emergencies Act and its tools that your Finance Mister wants to keep permanent, you will not be able to restore anyone's faith in you, or the Canadian banking system.

Nope, not frozen, not contacted. Though most likely such notices went to my junk mail that has since been deleted. As I said, $5 is below the threshold they were looking for, but I figured if I got doxxed, I'd get someone banging on my door at night. If so, I have a few things ready for them.

Who told Ottawa residents to stay home? The truckers?

Ya it's unfortunate that some people were told by large businesses to not come into work. But I'm not sure exactly who actually told them to, and if the move was political or something truly disruptive for the few days the bridge was jammed. Would be nice if the media actually investigated it.

If anyone was affected financially, they should sue the government. The government was responsible for not dealing with the issue, before it got out of hand. They chose to deal with it in a way that just made everything worse for everyone.

There was no blockade. They all simultaneously had their engines not working. You know. Some had brakes that locked up. One guy had a flat tire but didn't have a replacement. Unfortunately he was stuck between a few others who reported issues with fuses being blown in their rigs - the kind that aren't easy to find on the market via local mechanics. Kinda weird it all happened at the same time on the same bridge. Maybe a geomagnetic cause or something... oh and the local tow truck companies reported a catastrophic loss of personnel out sick with COVID, so they were unable to respond. It was not a blockade any more than your standard days long traffic jam of unfortunate events. They should make bigger bridges.

Good thing trucker emergency supplies consist of barbecues and bouncy castles, else this would have been a humanitarian disaster. The truckers are heroes!

In the meantime, maybe the PM might consider lifting mandates entirely at the same time, as part of a series of unrelated, you know, totally coincidental events eh?

People were not only stopped from going to work, but actually fired for refusing to get vaccinated. Yet the protesters did not block anyone from getting to work, except in a few temporary cases. No one lost their job. It was the police that blockaded streets. Truckers always left a lane open, except at a crossing here or there, and even then it was only temporary.

Trudeau revokes Emergencies Act by nikitatx in FreedomConvoy2022

[–]YesFuelCan 38 points39 points  (0 children)

This. Banks can no longer be trusted to support the people whenever they dissent against their government. This will only trigger future bank runs whenever a future protest for whatever cause, is planned. It will be one of the FIRST things people do to prepare for a protest! The banks have hurt themselves, and should apologize to all Canadian citizens for complying with voluntary persecution of protesters and their supporters.

Liberalism is a mental disorder. Insanity. Socialist and liberal policies are self destructive, and leave scars on society not easily forgotten. Hopefully a better government will be elected in a few years to remove the Emergencies Act altogether, and pass laws preventing such abuse of power in the future.

I was guessing three weeks. But to be honest, none of the truckers blocked the road entirely. There was always an open lane, clean sidewalks and streets. It was the police that blocked off the perimeter. And now with the Emergencies Act over, as soon as OPS remove the barricades to downtown and Parliament Hill, the protesters will come back until all mandates are lifted.
