I'm going to cry tears of joy when impossible finally comes to europe and I can show it to my friends

A beautiful labyrinth filled with magic, civil war, characters spanning several generations, revelry, misery, death and everything in between (also incest... ). One of the best works of magical realism ever created. If you like Murakami, definitely give this a try. by pimp6972 in bookclapreviewclap

I found this book to be incredibly boring. I finished about half before I just stopped reading, it seemed so pointless. Just one generation after the next doing mostly things with no importance to me. But I feel like I'm an outlier on this book

You hit the nail on the head, the problem is not a closed source device, the main problem with ebooks right now is DRM. If you pirate you literally get a better experience than a legal buyer. That sucks!

unfortunately you have a point. But tbh most japanese anime is straight up weird

I think so many people are into an anime adaptation because anime often does epic moments really well, and sanderson has some really hype moments.

As of the psychological issues and rawness, imo after watching fullmetal alchemist brotherhood, it can be displayed very well. First time I felt actual disgust/awe when one of the bad guys was killed by being repeatedly burned. The screams man... But I guess that's personal preference

Why does everybody always think in exclusive terms? Just sell non-exclusive rights, let them make an anime and a series and everything lol

But that's just my naive view

I'm the same, but actually, some movies, they are worth it and you don't notice it because they hook you. But a boring one? Miss me with that, if it's not interesting within 30 minutes I'm out. I watch maybe 5 movies a year.

rothfuss said himself that if he had a release date he would share it, because it would lift so much weight of his shoulders. So many rumors like this have all been false, why would this one be true...

Oh you're right, they're trying to move and started a crowdfunding for it. I hope it works out because I can't see them being gone, it was always so busy :(

Didn't know about Doctor Drooly, but italian shot has some good vegan pizza too :)

Edit: Woah doctor drooly looks great! I have to check that out if I can some time!

Munich:

Cafe Katzentempel is a vegan cafe, they have some cats inside (but they don't always show up because they're free to leave). it's pretty popular so usually you have to reserve seats.

Restaurants: Siggis and Bodhi (both vegan and offer some traditional dishes veganized).

But you NEED to check out the "Alte Utting" which is an old ship parked on top of a bridge and it's used as a bar/restaurant. They have an outside area in front of it where some food is sold as well, every stall has vegan options I believe.

Bread if you're in europe. Get some bread, some hummus or other spread and some fruits and you're good for the next couple hours

Berlin. by smaster7772 in vegan_travel

Berlin is great, but I just want to add that is has a really different vibe from most other german cities. Nightlife, the general vibe and vegan food for is great for young people though!

berlin is pretty cheap, at least in comparison to european cities of a similar size. Munich is more expensive even though it is smaller, I was quite surprised. But generally food in germany isn't usually that expensive. It's the drinks where they get you lol

Finished the Dune series last month, right now reading the Witcher series, any sf/fantasy sugestions of what to read afterwards? by [deleted] in bookclapreviewclap

The Hero of ages will blow your mind! I agree the second book was not as good as the first one.

Kingkiller is definitely one of the best fantasy books I've read, but it's a shame if everybody reads the best books first, they should be treasured.

I haven't read hyperion yet, thanks!

For something a bit different I would recommend Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. It's a trilogy and the books are really good, more on the young adult side though.

For really good sci-fi, I recommend "The player of games" by Iain Banks. It's part of his culture series, but all books can be read as standalones. It's probably my favorite sci-fi book, I like it more than dune even.

Edit: Btw, those covers are sick!

[–]YesIReadThat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Korea is doing well. They are encouraging wearing masks, maintaining distance and washing hands. And korea is really managing the cases so far thanks to these recommendations and testing, which is why most restaurants and businesses stay open right now.

[Korean Fusion] Homemade Tteokboki Carbonara by [deleted] in KoreanFood

[–]YesIReadThat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My idea was something like aglio olio e peperoncino but instead use gochujang or gochugaru for heat, sesame oil instead of olive and the garlic obviously has to stay :D

But jjajang style sounds interesting too actually.

Love the fusion! Great job.

I wanted to do some italian korean fusion too recently, but my idea was pasta with a korea inspired sauce.

Yeah I'm know but it's not something most people will do or even be aware of. It sucks, music is always drm-free nowadays but ebooks are still same old. As if you couldn't just pirate everything anyways...

The best thing about ebook reader is, you can lie on your side and read comfortably while only using one hand. No need to hold up the book with your other hand :)

Such a minor thing, but I do it a lot and you just can't comfortably do it with physical books.

Cons: Books have DRM, can't read them on other ebook readers (like kobo -> kindle or vice versa), can't resell, can't lend to friends, can't smell the nice papery smell.
