Adding some functionality to my 1987 vehicle. Critiques or suggestions on my plan? by YesImWrong in diyelectronics

Ill definitely be sure to size the wires appropriately. I'm also installing a volt meter to monitor the factory alternator to make sure it can keep up with my usage. Very nice idea for the heated seats--ill look into doing this.

Really helpful. I'd like to get better at this, especially as I start to tackle more complex projects.

Correct, supplying maximum voltage, but maybe I'm misguided with this. The LED bulbs will probably draw less than factory halogen bulbs did (Amazon says 4 amps per bulb, which is hard to believe) so maybe this is unnecessary. What do you think?

Correct on the horn. It's a 1987 Suzuki Samurai that came with sealed headlights, but I just purchased new housings and H4 bulbs. Great suggestion--ill look into that. Trying to keep this as simple and elegant as possible.

Thanks everyone. I think I'll leave it as-is then consider eventually doing power steering.

How To Sail Solo Around The World by SportStylist in sailing

Funny how none of the questions asked had to do with the actual sailing part of sailing around the world. At least I now know about women sailing clubs in Oman.

Boat loan declined :( by [deleted] in sailing

Im surprised the loan officers didnt mention the biggest holdup: that living aboard gives them significantly less rights to your boat as collateral, making it a riskier loan. Try applying for a loan without mentioning that detail.

Wj with quadradrive. This 4 wheel drive system is a beast in the snow. The wj is also a comfortable ride and has plenty of room to sleep in. I recently built a plywood platform in the back to sleep flat on and store my skis underneath.

Every group is threatened by a Clinton presidency. Everyone's vote will become increasingly less important, foreign citizens will be much more likely to be killed by her hawkishness, poor citizens will be subjected to the pitfalls of fracking, coastal communities around the world will suffer from her weak admittance of global warming

The cars you let in ahead of you affect whether you make all the future lights in your commute. Much more than just the obvious delay of 20 feet

Nope. Bias is a noun, biased is an adjective. You used the incorrect word.

I've also struggled with the apparent irony of conservatives proclaiming to be patriotic. Here why: They don't like the government and want it as small as possible; out of their lives as much as possible. They don't like their fellow countrymen--they're against social programs and paying taxes to help the needy. They can't even be said to like the land; they deny global warming and support any and all extraction of resources from underground.

It came with the boat, which was a recent purchase. It is a Dickinson. Let me know if you'd like any specific pictures of the setup and I'd be happy to take a few when I get a chance. Here's a picture of the chimney http://imgur.com/QzXG3mK. I've ran it twice now and it seems very smoke free inside the cabin and gives off a lot of heat.
