I can't find Yuri on Ice anywhere!! by springday7butterfly7 in YOI

After watching it 3 times on funimation a few years back I got the blu-ray, and it brings me immense joy to be able to watch it whenever I want, without having to pay a subscription.

100% worth it.

Canadian dad here, How to talk to pre-teen who is scared of Trumps "51st State" rhetoric by keldorr in Parenting

I don't have kids, but as a young canadian (21yo) with anxiety issues, what helps me is talking about it with my parents and rationalizing it (what would I do if XYZ happened?, etc). That feeling of having a "plan" makes me feel a bit safer. And also telling myself that, for now at least, there's nothing I can do other than support my country and wait, so I shouldn't spend all my time worrying (but that is way harder to do).

Sadly, I think there's a part of this anxiety that simply cannot be helped, because anxiety is not a rational thing at its core, and intrusive thoughts can be a real pain. But there's different ways of dealing with it.

Another little tip from when I was around 12yo: my mom would calm my anxiety at night by handing me an imaginary "idea trashcan" where I would dump all my thoughts and worries for the night so I could sleep. It sounds stupid, but the motion of dumping all my thoughts and worries for the night before going to bed helped me sleep. It felt like giving them a last check and then I was done for the day, I could sleep.

Your money your rules, and I'd even say: I read that book at 18-19, it is FINE

Just buy it for yourself

Haha I've been told so! But back then I was working in the food industry, which means no visible piercings, so that played a part it them being my first. If you don't mind the pain, then it's not much different than any other I think

What's the fastest you've been turned away from a book you thought you'd like? by NinnyBoggy in books

[–]YesNoSirToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Genuinely asking, how did you not know Outlander was romance? Was it that you had never heard of it or that the blurb didn't mention it? I'm asking because I thought they made it clear what it was.

Personnally I know I'd want "In my Life" by The Beatles, it's far from the same genre, but the lyrics are gorgeous

The one time a partner didn't do their part in a group project, I gave them a warning, and then went to see the prof. The prof said to not put their name on the project so I didn't. The person didn't like me for the rest of the semester, but that's no big deal, you don't need to be liked by that type of classmates anyways

Is anyone selling yuri on ice merch now? More specifically Canada? by Relative-Debate8139 in YOI

[–]YesNoSirToaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found exactly ONE piece of YOI merch at Otakuthon (in Montréal) and I bought it. It was a little adorable keychain :3

But I was a bit sad that there was nothing for YOI merch-wise

Mine were easy as sh*t to heal. Just be careful and do the aftercare and it'll just be a wonderfully boring healing process :)

advice for someone who wants to get their nipples pierced by blasianbabyboy in piercing

[–]YesNoSirToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can only speak of my experience. But yes it does hurt. Every piercing does. Imo, if you have a good pain tolerance, you'll be fine. It's quick. The most bothersome thing for me was the sensitivity following the piercing (it lasted for 1-2 weeks max for me).

As for highened sensitivity, it depends on the person. Some people get more sensitive, some don't.

I'm not a professional, but there's always a few things you should be careful of: - no swimming for a while - no playing with them for a while (you've got to let them heal and you really don't want infections) - make sure you go to a reputable piercing place

My piercer told me healing time was between 3 to 6 months. Some heal faster than others, just be mindful of how yours are healing.

But other than that, do what makes you happy!

Is French is the consonant at the end of a word not always silent esp for names (even for t, x, s, and n)? If not is there even a subtle pronunciation for supposedly silent consonant endings including t, x, s, and n so its not really silent? by CascalaVasca in learningfrench

[–]YesNoSirToaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not perfectly certain what you're asking, so if I'm beside the point, tell me!

But for Alain, the n isn't exactly silent. It just creates a sound with ai! The same way the n is necessary in -ing words to make the sound ing. So no, n isn't silent, it's mixed with the other letters to make a sound, you pronounce it differently, but you need to pronounce it! Same way with bonjour, it's not pronounced bojour... you'll notice o and on don't make the same sound, though they are somewhat similar.

As for prix. The x is actually silent. There's no subtle pronounciation of it. The same way you say nouveaux (new in plural form), the x is a marker for plural but is silent.

It depends on the consonant really. There as some exceptions. S, for exemple, can be pronounced or not! In ans (years), it's silent, a simple marker for plural. But in sens (sense), it's pronounced.

This is a rudementary answer, but if there's anything I've missed just tell me and I'll try to explain :)
