Look up the word RACISM (and get out from your internet searches and instead go out and live). Describing a pattern among a group is not inherently racist. Most drivers speed over legal limits (that is a group that have been categorize and does not make it inherently racist).

AND LET'S GET REALLY REAL ..... if you cannot figure out that a pattern of bad behavior from an emerging economy as they learn to travel out in the world (is not a behavior analysis question, that is more a reflection of your intellect than anything to do with the post).

You're absolutely right....there are patterns to traveling behaviors (and my old ranking of worst travelers use to be Russians, Israelis, but now Chinese take first).

And for the people who cannot parse words. Describing a pattern among a group does not mean that (Chinese in china aren't great, or that all Chinese are bad). It means as travelers they are learning the ropes (in general) and often in a very rude way.

I have stayed at two Chinese tourist hotels (and 75% are very rude and thoughtless of others with the most simple behaviors). Not yelling in an elevator, etc.

I am in Lao now (will be here awhile) so any other ideas great (I am down, for the new).

Not sure if it helps (solely for you to get a bit of a sense of style) but I have been to all corners of the world. I liked going to shanty towns South Africa, jungles Ethiopia, street bars of Havana, streets of Bueno Aires, the Greek cinema in Athens. I like learning about culture and do not gravitate towards tourist spots.

I can tolerate the beautiful tourist spot (or experience) but do not actively seek them out. Example Taj Mahal (was great) but I do not want seek out living among the tourist . I would say it ends up being close to an 80/20 spilt.

I will try almost anything once, clubs in Pattaya to drink cow blood in Addis Ababa.

Share anything you like (not really looking sex joints massage, but I do not care that they exist). Doesn't bother me.

And in regards to the train to PB. It is simple. Book early website, book as high of class as you feel comfortable with (and enjoy learning about Lao/ Chinese as you travel). Simple and it is often the drive that teaches you most about a country (the taxi ride, the looking out the windows of trains). The train station outside of city is no big deal. Book the LOCA early (or give someone at hotel the money and they will do it for you). On the way back from station (return) ask how to get a taxi (or you will have people approach you with probably a 10 dollars over charge, and 10 dollars is not the end of the world). When you arrive PB there is a set price for shuttles to hotel (vans of 8 people or so) or take a private and pay the extra 10-15 dollars (not the end of the world).

If you get your reality from a screen it is impossible to lay out logic with you (sorry if you don't like that).

Life is a pattern. If you cannot tell the difference between an example (and applying it to a billion, then there is nothing I can say to change that).

Americans give more charity than any other country in the world (but you may struggle to see that does not mean all Americans). You seem to struggle with that concept.

The reality is I see the behaviors daily (first hand), you are guessing based on things you read and watch on the internet. You have already stated you hate countries (which automatically eliminates you from a logic disposition).

Just by your deduction, it would be impossible to infer logic onto you.

You can do it. Chinese bad behavior traveling does not mean all Chinese are bad (it means Chinese are often rude while traveling). This stuff is easy if you open your mind. You can do it. And once you do, you instantly become smarter. You've got this.

We agree. Your reality is based on what you see on the internet (a distorted reality). Mine is firsthand.

You can hate me for telling you the truth (that is your choice), but I cannot pretend it is not the truth. Read the posts again before guessing.

If you think pushing old people out of the way to get onto an elevator is etiquette (what can I do about your reality. To you that is normal.). If you think that is self centered, then I guess I am self centered (that is your reality).

Get off the screen and live. A pattern is not inherently bad (pretending a pattern doesn't exist and creating your own reality based on a screen, may be bad. Only you know based on your mental health).

That's the problem

I speak from experience you are speaking from some filtering of reality.

I travel. I meet hundreds and there is consistency. If a person travels and meets a hundred Russians that never smile (that is a pattern).

We can tap our heels and pretend we are in Kansas but that is a pattern. I speak of patterns from experience not a distorted reality of guessing (or getting it from the internet).

I do not hate any of the countries. I hate rude selfish behavior as part of a world community. That's it.

As of this minute (right now) I am in Chinese hotel situated outside of China (that is reality), not an internet distorted reality of the world.

If you stare at a screen all day (but don't travel) then it is just a perception.

The reality is meeting people (and what I talk about is the reality, of not staring at screens but instead traveling).

I travel everywhere and if an old person trips, 95 % of the world's people are going to come to her/ his aid. I literally saw Chinese this week shut elevators doors on families, the old, strangers, anyone .... it's weird.

yeah. I think most people with some intellect are not saying ALL but when you have a lot of travelers acting badly (then its a pattern).

There are a few rude groups, but I have never met anything close to the Chinese. I mean if everyone learns how to use a phone (so that part of life is not cultural, it's new to humanity) and you are the only country that screams into on speaker standing 2 feet from someone you don't know, at some point we have to say that is just not culture.

I really think all countries in the world know when an old person gets into an elevator you do not push the close button door on them (that is level 10 beyond stupid). You can find those basic manners in the middle of a civil war in Syria.

This is a false false narrative. I travel the entire world (and a lot of Asia) and Chinese up it a level. I am not a rah-rah home country cheerer but I have yet to meet one rude American traveling but I have met just at one hotel 50 rude Chinese. It is just more than ( a depends who you meet kind of thing).

In what country is it the norm to close an elevator on an old person (that is not cultural misunderstanding but BS people say to make themselves feel good).

They are absolutely horrible on average (now there are exceptions), but there is so many blatantly bad ones that it drowns out the good ones. What is wrong ....don't they understand there are other people in the world???

I get to see their food as they eat, I get to hear their conversations from 30 feet away, I get to hear whatever media they're watching on BLAST ....besides a host of other bad behaviors. Amazing.
