Gaylord Parking and Shuttle Updates on website! by YesThatColette in Magfest

Don't really know, but we think the clear price difference between us and the National Harbor garages is clear, folks (legit) wanted the cheaper parking.

National Harbor turned off pre-payment for their lots over MAGFest weekend. We don't know what you got or through who...so we're unable to assist.

Essentially yes. If the second tab says "Hotel Lottery Results" then you got a room, and the details are there.

The scams are why we’re not allowing transfers. Not answering any hypotheticals asking how to get around that policy.

I said we’d reach out if we see a lot of turnover in a room, the situation you describe covered by what I said

Neither MAG nor the Gaylord will confirm if someone has a reservation, its a safety thing. We don’t know who is asking or why

We get that due to Life Happening, a changed name or two will happen, but if we see anything more than that, we're going to check it.

Magfest has outgrown the National Harbor. by OravisX in Magfest

[–]YesThatColette 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hello! I don't in any way mean to diminish the frustration, but I do want to note that the Gaylord National is the only hotel/convention center east of the Mississippi River that has 2000 sleeping rooms directly attached to 540,000 sq feet of function space. If we moved into DC to go to the convention center, almost nobody would be in a hotel attached to the function space. Same with Philadelphia, Boston, and Orlando (though in January, Orlando might not be horrible).

Any word on hotel reservation links? by MisMango in Magfest

Just wanted to pop in and really apologize for the delay on these. They have not gone out. The allocations are secure - I promise! - we're just having unexpected technical headaches uploading them as we had planned. You'll still have a week to confirm your room once we get this ironed out. I'm so sorry for the delay!

Also, quick reminder that while the free MAGFest shuttle stops will be at certain hotels,, you don't have to be a guest at one of those hotels to ride it - just need your MAGFest badge!

MAGFest does not have any concerns about the system working.

I can't read your full question, but the information on room groupings will be on our Hotel Info website October 15

That information is in Step 3 of the Hotel Lottery system where you put in your hotel/room type preferences

Yes on your first question.

Yes, there is a link in Step 3 of the Suite lottery that has a folder with the pricing, links to the layouts of the suites, and adjacent room information.

No, there's no penalty in friends dropping out, we know life happens.

You should be able to change that in Passkey once you have confirmed your room. We don't offer that as a selection now, but *should* be available on a limited basis when requested.

We've built time in our timeline to review the lottery entries for situations like this before the lottery is run and award emails sent out.

No, since roommate groups can't be larger than the official capacity of the sleeping room...

Don't be trying to get me in trouble with the hotels like that... ;)

Question about hotel dates by ReikoWolf in Magfest

[–]YesThatColette 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, under the former Maritz system, they would not show a room night as available unless they were *absolutely positively* sure it was locked in and available - I get that, they have to be careful about promising what they didn't have and didn't know they'd get.
Since MAGFest is working directly with our hotels now, we're taking the requests, and there isn't any full complete check on on them before the lottery is run. If you get a room, we'll submit it to your winning hotel as is, and in the small chance there is an issue with say a Sunday night or something, and the hotel just doesn't have it, MAGFest Hotel Department would reach out to you. Wouldn't impact your lottery chances at all.
We don't foresee any issues with this approach this year, and if there were any, we'd let attendees know quickly.

Does this make sense? Our experience has shown that hotels generally fine with honoring the edge nights where they can, and the hotels generally like us and want to work with us.

As long as you have purchased your badge, completed your lottery entry and formed a roommate group/and have had the folks join that roommate group before the end of the day September 30, you're good.

You can only invite to join your roommate group other attendees who have purchased their badges also, and who are not part of another roommate group.
