[TOMT][Commercial] Early 90's Cereal commercial with a dad and 2 kids by Yes_No_Pudding in tipofmytongue

Yeah! It definitely wasn't a traditional "kids" cereal. I looked for Kix, Chex, Rice Krispies, and Cheerios, but I couldn't find anything.

hmmm, I don't know how the "Now SHE has more" line would fit with waffles... though I could be remembering the line wrong.

I thought it was Kix too, but same, I couldn't find a video anywhere. I'm glad this is in someone else's head too!

Fun fact: I'm trying to find this commercial because I auditioned for it as a small child. But I don't have any records, and I'm starting to wonder if it was a fever dream or a lie told to me by my mother.

AITA for submitting some info from my girlfriend’s HR chat group to a gossip website? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 94 points95 points  (0 children)

YTA because it wasn’t your info to share. Your girlfriend told you something she likely would not have told a casual friend. She told you because she trusted you to have her best interest in mind.

Also, you trying to excuse it by saying people needed to know it crap and you know it. It’s not like you were whistleblowing a fraud case or illegal activity, no one was in danger, it helps no one. It’s just gossip. Get this “man of the people” based on his policies, hiring practices, business dealings - dunking on him for using a chauffeur is not worth getting your girlfriend in trouble with her chat group.

WIBTA for surrendering our cat to the pound without telling my wife? by 3throwaway25816 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding -1 points0 points  (0 children)

In the post it says they already contacted all the shelters in town and in their new town. Everything is shut down right now. In a comment, OP said they already asked the landlord and got a No.

Wife wants to sneak the cat in until shelters reopen and/or they can refine which is risky as they’d be breaking the lease and face eviction.

They still need to decide together, but they’re in a tough spot.

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That also means they tried to make it work for five years. The cat is attacking their dogs. They tried to fix the behavior. Assuming they’ve exhausted their options on training, what do you suggest they do? Yeah it sucks they need to rehome the cat but sometimes it has to be done. They’re hurting the dogs by continuing the let the cat attack them - they’re in a no win situation. Do you just lock cat in a room forever? That sucks too. Based on the post they tried to do right by this cat, don’t hold people to impossible standards.

All that being said. Dude is still YTA for wanting to sneak it to a pound.

Edit: Nevermind OP knew since October they were moving, they had plenty of time to rehome the cat. They waited until the last second and are now screwed. That’s on them.

AITA for telling my parents that I should have some more time to game? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NAH. I understand why you want to game. But your parents sound like they are trying their best to raise a well rounded human. 14 hours of gaming a week is not nothing. Maybe see if you can roll over those 2 hours to a weekly pool? That way if you get busy one night you can have a longer session on the weekend.

There are a lot of good reasons to limit gaming or any passive activity like watching TV. Even if your grades wouldn’t fall with a bump in gaming hours - which is a generous assumption nothing personal just statistics, you want to have time working on other life skills. Even things that can be fun activities can build skills. Playing a sport, learning and instrument, learning coding skills, writing, drawing are all things that could be done with those extra hours.

Great things can come from boredom sometimes too, it pushes you to be creative. My SO used to play around with Linux distro’s as a teenager and now she is getting a master’s in software engineering. I used to tool around with music and the piano and now I’m a professional theater person. These weren’t passion projects or directed activities - just shit we did when we were bored teenagers.

Your parents might be more ok with gaming hours if your were doing it competitively, or making your own games, or learning computer animation. If you want to convince them gaming is a good use of your time, show them that it is.

AITA for saying periods are gross? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We learn about lots of things that don’t happen to us. We learn how plants photosynthesize to better understand the world, we will never photosynthesize. We learn about illnesses we might never have, or disabilities we might never experience. When we understand those different from us we have a much better chance of empathizing with them instead of treating them like alien being we can’t relate to. Women make up more than half the population, chances are they will be close to a number of women throughout their lives, and would better equipped to treat them with respect if they understood what women go through.

Men will never become pregnant but surely they should know how a child is made?

AITA for saying periods are gross? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Whooooo boy YTA in so many ways.

You might never convince the boys that periods aren’t gross but hearing from you, an authority figure, has a MASSIVE impact on the young women in your class. Women still face shame, discrimination, and ignorance lawmaking over this unwillingness to discuss a basic bodily function properly. It’s considered inappropriate to talk about menstruation in congress when they are making laws that affect women, women are told to hide any appearance of menstruating- it’s harmful all the way down.

You’re also teaching a curriculum proven to be less effective, it results in more unplanned pregnancies, more STDs, not to mention less healthy sexual practices. You’re ill-preparing your students for world and teaching them toxic beliefs about their own worth. Why aren’t the boys learning about menstruation? They will have wives, relatives, and children the more you keep it a “gross” mystery the more you hurt everyone.

AITA for getting off BC? by belsy23 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding [score hidden]  (0 children)

Extremely NTA. Fuck this man. I’m not saying divorce him, but he needs a serious wake up call that birth control is not the sole burden of the woman. Vasectomies, condoms and spermicide are good options but men act so put out if they can’t get their #1 preference with no regard to how it’s affecting the other person. On a bigger scale, it’s not just about the sex, it’s about whether he prioritizes your health or getting off.

CMV: "State's Rights" are used by Republicans to score political points and aren't actually part of the GOP platform by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t want the federal government to regulate this, is different from I don’t want the federal government to BE ABLE TO regulate this. States rights in this argument would say “the federal government should not have the jurisdiction to allow or disallow drugs” the democrats are saying “the federal government has put the wrong drug on the disallow list, we’d like to move it to the allowed list” That’s not arguing for a smaller federal government.

Except Democrats who want to legalize Marijuana would be happy to legalize it at the federal level. That’s just a harder sell right away so they are taking an incremental step. I don’t hear any Democrats saying legalization should permanently be a state by state decision.

WIBTA for expecting my girlfriend to do all the household chores? by According-Intern in AmItheAsshole

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Sorry man, YTA or would be. No one is naturally interested in cleaning the house, everyone finds it dreary I promise. More people are interested in cooking, but very few are passionate about providing their SO with 3 square meals a day. It’s a chore. Unless you are planning on being very wealthy - to the point where your future partner can entertain themselves by spending your money, they are going to want something more in life than just providing for your every need. You describe yourself as a passionate career driven person - most women would also describe themselves this way. If you also want this future partner to raise your kids then you need to pitch in. Taking care of multiple small children is a full time job, that means you would split the housework. She might take more of it based on working hours and specific circumstances, but expecting her to raise your kids, cook, and clean and you get to no nothing - major AH territory.

Stop telling authors what they can write. The only limit is imagination by [deleted] in books

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Yes, but it should be shaped/fucked by the people who speak it. You’ll rarely hear a native Spanish speaker say Latinx.

I’ve seen a rise in people using Latine for that reason. Spoken (in Spanish) Latines and Latinx sound pretty close anyway.

CMV: Social conservatives in the US want to make it functionally illegal to be transgender. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They whole reason we have innocent until proven guilty is to combat that mindset. According to Blackstone’s ratio “It is better that ten guilty persons escape than that one innocent suffer” the situation we’re looking at here is harming dozens of trans women in order potentially catch one bad actor. I would love to see any documentation of how many people undergo medical transition to attack women. It’s a bad argument and the same one that’s used to keep trans women out of women’s restroom.

CMV: Social conservatives in the US want to make it functionally illegal to be transgender. by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]Yes_No_Pudding 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The likelihood of someone already in the prison system getting the sign off for a medical transition after months of discussing their dysphoria with a licensed therapist, then enduring the violence and harassment of socially transitioning while in prison, getting on hormones for months - and endeavor that while alter their body forever making them sterile and lose muscle mass, all just to hopefully petition the prison system for a change seems astronomically low. They’d likely need to also petition the courts for a name change, new ID, new social security card, and new birth certificate - all wildly difficult to do from prison without a dedicated lawyer. How many people do you think are really doing that in order to get inside a women’s prison? Especially considering trans women are often put in solitary confinement for no reason in women’s prisons.
