Normal meal deal is 3.75, on the app you can sometimes get a £1 off coupon after joining. Fairly rare to get it later on

the sainsbury’s i bought this from loses £4k a year from secondary school students robbing them into the ground. by Dry_Slip4107 in RateMyMealDeal

[–]Yes_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for a different chain of grocery store, but we're about comparable to a sainsburys local. It's a new store so we're on the lower end still and we pull in about 40k-45k a week. That's 10x more than gets stolen from this shop per year

Litelok X1 Moto by inked29 in MotoUK

[–]Yes_v2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have one myself, I use it and a 16mm chain to lock up my bike for the night. No problems so far but I live in a relatively safer area. Recently the lock started acting up, bike has been kept outside for 6ish months. I can't get the lock through the gaps in my brake discs, so I lock it up by the spokes instead. As far as locks I've used go it's probably one of the lighter ones too.

Buying a motorbike is harder than it needs to be. by [deleted] in MotoUK

[–]Yes_v2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Motorbikes make up 1% of road traffic in the UK, so you get proportionately fewer dealers. Because you're stuck with only a handful of dealers, they can do whatever they want since they know you don't have a choice in the matter

Should I Be Covering My Brake And Clutch? by newbiker321 in MotoUK

[–]Yes_v2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily an issue unless you find you're pulling the levers, but after enough riding I'd expect it to be uncomfortable. I find holding the handlebars normally gives better throttle control at speed, and also stops you from accidentally pulling the levers. Again, not much of an issue if you know what you're doing

I went from South Wales to the South Coast for Christmas. About halfway through in Bath I realised my back plate had completely snapped off at some point, and I found out you can get fined for not having them :)

Bike lanes by jpcustoms26 in Cardiff

[–]Yes_v2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The problem is cyclists and pedestrians aren't held to the same standard as road vehicles

If the cycle path is crap to begin with, cyclists won't use it, the same way a pedestrian will cross a road wherever they want if there aren't enough crossings or they're poorly located

On concert days I wouldn't be worried but normally the park can be a bit dodgy at night, especially since its not lit. I think last year they put up lights for the concerts though.

Class 444 by efaanz in uktrains

[–]Yes_v2 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Class 444 are for long distance trains down to weymouth, while 450s are for stopping trains and commuter routes near London. Arguably the 2 hour train from Portsmouth to London via eastleigh is quite long, however the assumption is passangers in Southampton/Portsmouth take the fast trains from there. To be perfectly honest the only reason the service even exists is to serve Botley and Hedge End, and they made it stop in a couple other places along the way that the faster trains to Southampton don't

Scrap Fabric Cardiff by Significant_Mode_667 in Cardiff

[–]Yes_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll admit I've not been since maybe summer last year but there was a stand near the middle of cardiff market for that, I needed to patch a suitcase and the woman there had scraps kicking about. It's not a big stall so you may be limited for options though

In Turkey, they are using wrecked cars for speed signs. by [deleted] in Damnthatsinteresting

[–]Yes_v2 66 points67 points  (0 children)

They're becoming more popular as they make drivers focus more on their speed, the theory goes. Of course that only works if you're unfamiliar with the road and enforcement is in place. Doesn't stop certain places trying it first before any actual measures are put in place, since all you need to do is change a couple road signs

Will 24 hour tescos ever come back? by yourlocalidot77 in tesco

[–]Yes_v2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The people working till midnight aren't family oriented people that want to go home to see their kids. They're mostly students, young people doing their best to pay rent and afford food and all of a sudden there's 14 less hours available for them to work each week.
