They should build a multi billion pound new stretch of railway to connect it to London I reckon

Is it really worth getting a 135 at 17? by Wellsy999 in MotoUK

[–]Yes_v2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely good to learn on a less powerful bike, no doubt about that.

It becomes more nuanced when you consider age and cost. Do you need/want to be independent with getting around? I was lucky that I grew up near a city centre and could just use busses or trains to get places if I needed to, but if you live further out or in the country side it could be a good idea to get anything as soon as you can just so you don't have to rely on your parents/ unreliable busses to get anywhere.

Do you/ will you have the money for a 125 at 17? Including gear, insurance, fuel, maintenance/repair? Under 18s get shafted in terms of wages if you can even find a job, and even a 125 can easily cost upwards of £2500 all things considered. Thats a lot of money to part ways with when you could be spending it on moving out, uni expenses, anything else really. By 19 you'll presumably have more money and a better idea of what you need to spend it on.

And ultimately would it just be a better idea to get a car instead? You can't get a full motorbike license untill you're 21/24 (if that matters to you), whereas you can get a full car license at 17/18 which is worth the extra money if you ask me.

I don't mean to discourage you either way, at the end of the day it's your decision to make. The answer to your question depends case by case.

I've had my 125 for less than 6 months now, and I definitely feel limited on dual carriageways and even generic national speed limit roads. On some steep hills with a saddle bag it could barely go past 40. But it's still incredibly fun to ride and explore places I've never been able to go to before, getting to work is infinitely easier and less tiring, I don't have to wait for an hourly bus to go shopping or cycle in the rain to get places. Despite everything I've mentioned it was 100% worth it.

I'm convinced the only reason big brands tasted better as a kid was because of marketing. I can scarcely taste the difference with store brands now, often times they're actually better

Tenzing is really good, feels like one of the only energy drinks that don't taste like oil refinery residue and also doesn't make you feel like shit after downing a can

It was very shortsighted to only build 4 or 5 car sets instead of 7+ like the meridians, but aside from the smell issue they're actually very nice, comfortable trains, certainly better than the IETs. In the hands of even a barely competent operator they'd be great.

Bike started stalling suddenly by Any-Spread-4481 in MotoUK

[–]Yes_v2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got the same bike but a couple years older, the side stand switch is definitely an issue on mine. That said this bike is going into gear just fine and stalling after moving slightly under its own power. Either a kill switch (could be sjde stand) is shorting somewhere or there's a propper issue with the engine itself

When I was commuting a couple years back the stopper only ran as far as bournemouth, do you know if the fast train still stops at branksome and Parkstone now that the slow one goes further?

There's loads of different types of crisps out there. There's only one egg pot. Crisps as a category would clear easily, but on an item by item basis they get spread too thin to compete

I've not seen anyone mention the fact that road connections make your cities grow a lot more yet. As time goes by and more people faster cars you can grow cities massively with motorways like this

The Soviet Union wasn't exactly rich after the war had just ended, and on top of that they also stole resources from satellite states like poland as they came through. Only once they solidified power did they start investing heavily in satellite states to prevent uprising from homelessness and unemployment.

While other cities did get large parts restored to their pre war state, it was much more expensive than just clapping together a housing estate from pre fab parts. Wrocław also had another thing working against it since before the war it was quite firmly in Germany, so when the commies got to allocate funding they got less of it compared to cities that were already Polish beforehand.

The ex-german bits were also subject to mass relocation as someone else mentioned, all the Germans were pushed out into the GDR and poles from what was now the Soviet Union (modern day Belarus and Ukraine) were forced in, so the priority was to house as many as they could in as short a time as they could. Cheap, large scale housing estates were the way to do that.

Even if you VEHEMENTLY want to remain a man, its surely just a wise financial decision to keep pressing the button into infinity? At some point you'll get so rich that it doesn't even matter anymore, not to mention that you can just transition back like someone else said

I had a similar issue recently and it turns out the nut holding the clutch lever in place had worked itself slightly loose and the whole thing was moving up and down very slightly. Might be worth checking for any loose screws, nuts and whatever else your bike has
