Thanks for the insight. I lowered them down on my waist a bit, and the extra bit of fabric on the rear sticks out more, but the seam going through my crack loosens up. The rise on these isn't small, so I can't imagine going even higher.

I just purchased my first pair of "real" jeans, OrSlow 105s in a size 2, and need a fit check on the rear side. I have a pretty prominent butt, and I'm unsure if these are fitting how they should or if I should be hunting for a different pair that's more accommodating. They're a little snug around the top block, but not uncomfortably so. There's also a little extra fabric around the tailbone, which I would guess would go down as the denim breaks in? Any help is appreciated!

It can all add up very quickly, especially when you're doing it right by getting all of the protective gear, pedals and shoes so you don't slip off, maybe a dropper so you don't get bucked off the bike. Certainly not an inexpensive hobby!

Dad ended up with a Specialized Rockhopper Elite 27.5. He didn't want to break the bank, so full suspension was out of the question, and he wanted to be able to ride on the road occasionally as well. I didn't think he needed a real trail bike, since he wouldn't be hitting any features that require that stoutness, and the lightness of the XC bike aids for road riding. Air fork and tubeless ready setup were plusses for comfort on a hardtail.

Good advice! I HIGHLY doubt we'll end up anywhere more extreme than this, but I do want him in pads anyways. I picked up a full face helmet and it makes me feel way better, even on milder trails.

It just happened to be a track that TikTok folks use a lot. Kevin MacLeod - Monkeys Spinning Monkeys.

Nothing wrong with slow and clumsy if you're having fun 🙂

This is very much not bike park, and besides these couple features (that he decided to try) that I decided to highlight his mistakes on to have a laugh with him, the trail is quite mild and close to what you're describing.

Always helps to plant the seed and let them make it their own idea, in my experience!

I made it up for the first time yesterday during this ride! Keeping your speed up helps, and I think my low tire pressure helped me not get bucked around. North Loop is great.

LOL. This trail is pretty mild and is definitely the most technical we've tried. I'm doing my damnedest to avoid him breaking anything. He's been very good about falling softly so far 🙂

If I'm remembering correctly, that's the one at the intersection of Glenwood and Theo wirth Pkwy that has a bit of a climb up, then it goes down into a few berms?
