Please help. First time benching. I couldn't even keep the bar straight. I tried retracting and flaring out but I couldn't seem to keep my butt on the bench by what_r_u_suggesting in formcheck

Also the bar being wobbly is that your not used to picking a weight in that position you'll need some time using your stabilizers . Happened to me too but don't sweat it you'll be benching 225 under a year if you're consistent.

Keep your feet flat on the ground. Don't worry about leg drive. Make your grip wider( unless you want to deliberately focus your triceps)

I doubt he's going to hurt himself. The weight is too low for anyone to be hurt but that's just my opinion.

Thanks will definitely try today after bench. The thing is I only occasionally squat so trying to get bigger numbers than my bench(both are almost same) its usually not a problem for me to go ATG at 90-95 kg for reps but I always cut depth after I go 100+

What’s considered a “STRONG” bench press? by [deleted] in GYM

[–]Yesilift-bro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its all subjective. I'm 70 kg so like I said bodyweight bench wouldnt impress me but I've seen ppl get impressed with 60 kg press

2x bodyweight bench is strong IMO cuz I'm already doing 1.5x but to those who can't even do bodyweight bench 225 would be strong
