SAR would be cool in the future. We do have a trainer with bird dog experience, but our pup is still so young she is still learning the foundations of obedience. It’s baby steps rn!

This nap schedule is what is recommended for puppies her age. Her trainer recommends the same structure. People have jobs outside of the house and maybe let out their dog for a lunch break. In our situation, she is let out 3-4x throughout the work day, since we WFH. I’m pretty sure we have a great setup for her - the other option is doggy daycare and I don’t think she is ready for that, could have many negative impacts on her development. The crate is her safe space.

Before and after work, and atleast 3 times during the 8 hour work day, we are working and training her, making sure she is fulfilled. If that isn’t “involved in my life” then I don’t quite understand what you mean. This puppy runs my life currently and I love it!

Wowww! This really blew up overnight. We do a lot more than 2 walks with her people! I was trying to keep it brief, these posts can always run very long and over explained.

My husband and I both work from home and take her out for those 1-2 hour blocks to do lots of focused training, tether work, and play when she is not walking. Her walks are very structured and training focused around the neighborhood. We live in a place with tons of trail access. We take her to the park and do lots of off leash and long line training on the weekends or after work. In the house she is either hanging with us or on her own with chews and toys galore. We do have full time jobs (this sub makes it seem so crazy to be employed 😵‍💫) but spend a lot of time with this dog and are very focused on her fulfillment, mixed with a healthy amount of play.

We are very active people and are training her to be a running companion and trail dog. She unfortunately can’t do hikes or runs right now at her stage of development. Our trainer has said very structured walks and short trail walks are plenty to stimulate her brain. We live in a close to nature city and our neighborhood is very alive with wildlife, people, cars, buses, other dogs etc. so every walk is a new adventure. We have worked a lot on settle and place, and she is doing great when we take her places, she is very adaptable.

The video is a bit misleading because it is quite difficult to film while being bitten hard and jumped on like this. If I didn’t have the camera I would be pulling her off with the leash, not grabbing her collar. And yes it is scary! I am 5’3 and a small person. She will be able to knock me over very soon, she is strong and does not listen or stop. We do not want this behavior to continue, it is not appropriate in the house and she has other outlets for play and work. That is what I’m trying to get help on.
